Go with Samsung or LG. They are head and shoulders above all other manufacturers right now.

Get the basic Kenmore models, use the shite out of them for 7-8 years, then buy a new set.

Damn. I had a Samsung front load washer and it broke after 3 1/2 years. $500 to fix it so I bought an LG top load direct drive. It gives the UE error code every other time it runs. After googling, it appears it's a common problem. Maybe I've just had shitty luck.
Eta: Napoleon, how do I fix the UE error code? It does this no matter what/how much is being washed.

All that fancy electronic shite you don't need. Just more stuff to break down.

I love my LG!! A repair guy for all appliances recommended me LG with an unbias opinion stating they have the fewest problems.
That Speed Queen looks super enticing though and I would definitely consider it!

A lot of people on here recommend Speed Queen. I ended up going with a mid-grade whirlpool. Haven't had any problems (knocks on wood)

I just bought whirlpool cabrio top loader and matching dryer. Decided against front loader after doing research and talking with people who've had them.
