Besides lots of drugs that is.

Maybe he was just 46 years too early.

In the months leading up to the Tate/LaBianca murders, Charles Manson often spoke to associates about Helter Skelter, an apocalyptic war arising from racial tensions between blacks and whites

Charles Manson predicted a race war in the late 1960's?

What a prophet! There were virtually no racial tensions at that time!

Sure, thousands have predicted a racial conflict in the US for a long time, but let's make sure we credit the psychopathic murderer who mentioned it.

Well predicting is a little different from "trying to initiate one" - which is what he was trying to do.

Not just any race war though. The race war to end all wars and then blacks would take over the world but the only problem is the blacks would be too dumb to run the world so they would all turn to him as their savior and prophet. That was his prediction anyway.

Depends. Would dancing be considered a combat role as well?

Regardless of the effects of 24/7 news that makes you aware of every single thing that happens everywhere, race relations are better now than they've ever been. There is a lot more peace than there is discord.

Well, he was the first in trying to get it started before these cops killing young innocent men and Dylann Roof.

His idea was actually very similar to this Roof character's idea.

Now we have politicians, journalists, and community leaders constantly bleating about race issues. This stirs up social media and outrage from the white racist morons and black racist morons. Sprinkle in some moron cops overreacting or flat out breaking the law themselves and a dash of wacko idiot white wannabe famous mass murderer and you might get some conflict.

Totally agree. I haven't watched the news in months and had no idea there was a race war brewing outside my window.

I agree - and being crazy (both of them surely are) doesn't make either of them "not" evil (both of them surely are). I'm still leaning towards calling Roof's crimes "terrorism" because of his intentions, his statements, his motivation, leaving the survivor to "tell the world", etc.. I've not seen links to organized groups or even associates, but there is still a lot to learn about this guy. I have a feeling we will get a much more thorough exploration of him than we did of the Tsarnaevs and their associates (and I'll just leave it at that).

But, in hindsight, Manson was even more clearly terrorism as he had an active following - once they started killing, the Manson family is rightly described as a hippie, anarchist, far left terrorist group. But sensibilities of the day were different then.

the underlying issues have existed

But the OJ trial is what set all this rabid auto-reposnse in motion.
the divergent responses to that verdict set both cultures in totally opposite directions.

Ad to that het media feeding it and re-feeding it ad nauseum and here we are.
