Way too much work just for an xlt
If he gets it running good again, he'll have a basically new truck for $6k plus whatever repair costs he had. If he has the capabilities and the friends with access to work space which he clearly does, this is a no brainier.

These vehicles will be sold at dealer-only auctions. The public won't have access until after that initial dealer sale.
I don't suggest anyone go on a limb and buy one of these exotics hoping you can fix it... the electrical issues that will haunt these vehicles are legendary. They will probably never run right again.
I work for the parent company that owns the auctions so I do have some legit insight... fyi.

If the vehicles have been flooded, they are usually totalled and wriitten off. Cant get a title other than salvage.

I found this Site called CoPart where they selling flood damaged and Regular Damaged vehicles. If you search flood damage some of them have a piece of tape showing how high the water got. Like this 67' Camaro SS that had water about 18" up.

Any of these sites have any pre-cpu imports? My FIL enjoys working on cars and a flooded out 60s-70s Porsche would be one helluva gift.

I stumbled on a 31ft contender from FL a few months ago for under $20k. Only damage was being fully submerged for a week or so.
