Its true that it would be almost impossible to do all of those shows in one morning but most people aren't trying to do that. If you've been a couple times, there are things that most people are willing to skip. For example, I feel like I've seen the same Indiana Jones show 100 times. I probably haven't stopped to see it on my last 4 trips. Also, I usually stay for a week for each trip. I know I'll be back to each park more than once, so there is no reason to try to cram the entire park into 1 day. I find that leads to a miserable experience when you try to cram too much into a day at WDW. I like to show up early, get a couple big things done, and then just relax and enjoy the park. Maybe do a couple smaller attractions.

A lot of people disagree with how I visit WDW, but I almost never spend a full day at one park. Go to one park in the morning. Leave a little after lunch and go back to the hotel for swimming, a nice lunch, a nap, or whatever. Then I'll usually hit another park around 4:00 or so. Everyone is refreshed and ready to have a fun evening. You can usually spot the people that have been in the parks all day long. They are the ones biting each others heads off around 7:00.

I'm not sure when you last went or if you caught the one down time in Disney's crowd calendar but it's getting tougher and tougher to fit everything in in general and it's just getting worse. Next year they'll open Avatar Land in AK and by 2017 Star Wars and Toy Story Land will both be open in DHS. That park will take multiple days to do all of that stuff.

I'm a DVC owner and the last time I went was in April. I know how crowded it can be. The difference is that I just don't care if I miss something. I know I'll be going back.

Believe me, he's been a bunch and very recently. I've also been and keep up with all of the news and happenings. But I'm not sure what you're getting at. Sure they're going to open Pandora in Animal Kingdom in the near future (they're also adding some nighttime offerings to allow that park to stay open much later) and the expansions to DHS are in the queue. But it sounds like you're making his point for him. Don't try to fit it all in in a single day. That's what makes people miserable on those trips. Take things slow. Stop and relax...even if you do it in the parks. I, personally, don't have to see and do everything on a trip. There are certain things that are "must-dos" for me and I hit those. Other than that, everything else is a bonus.

ETA: I don't see any way that the expansions in DHS are finished in 2017. They aren't breaking ground until sometime next year. Star Wars Land alone is 14 acres and it's looking more and more like that and Toy Story Land are going to take over some existing space. So they'll have to demo first before they can even begin to construct. Look at the most recent projects Disney parks have taken on: Cars Land, New Fantasyland & Pandora. Each of those took multiple years. 2018 may be too early of an estimate in my mind....at least for the full expansions to be open. They MAY open them in phases like they did with New Fantasyland. Pandora looks to be slated for a 2017 opening though.,

Can't wait to sit and drink in the Mos Eisley cantina. It may take the top spot in disney over the tequila bar in Mexico.

Technically, it won't be the Mos Eisley cantina. Star Was Land is set in a new, never before used outer-rim planet. But, there WILL be a cantina of some sort and I'm SURE they'll have blue milk

As far as books, they official Birnbaum book was always my go-to LINK

But, honestly nowadays with the Internet, you really don't need those. Check out AllEars.net as they're a great resource for the entire property. Restaurant menus and reviews, pics, refurbishment and closure schedules, etc.

MouseSavers.com is a good resource for discount info.

That's all I got, I've been so much that I don't really use anything when I book/plan other than checking the refurb calendar on AllEars so I know what to expect.

ETA: For forums, I think the DISBoards is the primary go-to for Disney fans.

We did it back in 2006. Got married in January so there weren't many options other than the Caribbean where we wouldn't freeze our asses off. Got a honeymoon suite in Wilderness Lodge. It was awesome. frick the haters.

Aren't there some other quirks with buying direct vs. resale? For instance I've heard that if you buy resale at the contemporary, you don't get access to the fireworks deck? Or am I mixing that up with renting points?
That's false. Access to the deck requires a member number. Renters don't get that.
