I saw the IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth 4th of July one and it was insane.

Tons of people go to COMICON too but you won't find any people you'd want to hang out with there

I probably would. Comicon is amazing, and filled with normal, happy people just like Disney World is. Sorry you're miserable and base your own happiness on the way other people live their lives.

I would go to COMICON just for the Cosplay.

GeauxColonels. Thx for the links of great info.
Booked it for Mardi Gras and decided Wilderness Lodge vs Port Orleans. With a 7 and 4 year old the closer the better.

You'll absolutely LOVE The Wilderness Lodge. Easily one of my favorite resorts. Great pool area. If I have one complaint on the place, though, it's that the counter service area (Roaring Forks Cafe) is fricking tiny compared to any others on property I'm familiar with. The kids will be in awe of the chimney (and you will too). They'll love the bridge in the lobby by the "spring" that feeds the creek to the pool.

Which was just recently renovated. Iirc, the whole creek was down for maintenance when I went earlier this year. Visiting and eating in the dif resorts if one of my favorite things to do, and Wilderness is always on that list. Plan on staying there the next time I go.

I stayed at Caribbean Beach and there wasn't a bus for Epcot for 50 minutes. Meanwhile 4 busses came for Magic Kingdom. I ended up being late for a tour because of it. Busses are supposed to come every 15 minutes. I stayed in the Pirate room though and loved it.

Your kids are too young for Disney. They won't remember the trips. Stay at the grand Floridian. Don't make excuses.
