Workers for the retail giant Walmart began fasting Friday in a protest expected to last until Black Friday to demand higher wages and more benefits.
The protest is being led by the opposition OUR Walmart, and will end during the group’s fourth annual Black Friday protest. The protest aims to put pressure on the company during one of its busiest days of year.
“This Black Friday, Walmart workers are taking on the wealthiest family in the country,” a message from the OUR Walmart website declared. “Walmart is the largest private employer in the world and it’s a perfect picture of everything that’s wrong with our unequal economy. Far too many Walmart workers continue to live in poverty and rely on public programs like food stamps to survive.”

No full time employee should have to live on welfare to get by, and my old neighbor worked at Walmart and they made enough to send their daughter to Private school and retire from walmart and live in a middle class neighborhood. Though back then Wal-mart was a different company.
I think $15 minimum wage is a bad idea, but Wal-mart should pay it's employees more, instead they work most of them at 30 hours so they don't have to give benefits.

No way that shite lasted past Saturday. Have you seen most of their employees?
Posted on 11/15/15 at 7:34 pm to trom83
Its gonna take months for some of them to starve to death.

Didn't Walmarks just announce raises for all these deadbeats?

It would be cool to collect Wal-Mart's profits of just 1 day.
($91 million)

if there is one thing your average walmart worker needs, it's to skip a few meals

Then don't work at Walmart. You're welcome.

They could pay their employees more but then they'd have to go up on prices to maintain profit margin. If they went up in prices they'd lose their advantage over the competition. Once that happened people are going to shop elsewhere because price is the only good reason to shop at Walmart. Now stores are closing and these same people bitching about pay are unemployed

Now if they can get the patrons to just quit eating

They should unionize. No way WalMart will ever be able to replace so many people with their skill set all at once.

It's a double edged sword sometimes too.
I'm glad I chose a recession proof trade, but it sucks to see people not being able to get by, yet work full time.
Costco takes great care of their employees, yet stays competitive with Sams.
It can be done.
