Obviously a lot of it is the same, and I wouldn't do all of my grocery shopping there. But you can get stuff at Whole Foods you can't get at Wal Mart
Get used to it
The produce at WF (organic and otherwise) is unrivaled in most cities, except at farmer's markets. Likewise the organic and humanely raised meats. I don't do all my shopping at WF, but I always am very pleased with what I do buy (certainly buy my share of cheeses, olives and breads).
Nice that we have choice. If WM starts selling more organic produce, I still would not buy my groceries there...it will never be an enjoyable shopping experience. WF is a great example of "you get what you pay for."

26 Countries have banned GMO Crop
misleading quote is misleading
quote:
A few years ago, there were sixteen countries that had total or partial bans on GMOs. Now there are at least twenty-six
"partial" bans means they could just reject a small number of chemicals, which i'd imagine most of these do
that is nowhere close to an outright ban
quote:
and are banned altogether from Russia and Bulgaria because unapproved genetically engineered rice “escaped” during open-field trials on GMO rice. Certain Thai exports—particularly canned fruit salads containing papaya to Germany, and sardines in soy oil to Greece and the Netherlands—were recently banned due to threat of contamination by GMOs.
sounds like the bans, other than for domestic protection, are issues for contamination, not health, reasons
your own link lists 5 reasons for the ban, and only one of them deals with human health
and this is the real reason
quote:
A fifth argument is that patented GMO seeds concentrate power in the hands of a few biotech corporations
since these companies are American, those other countries are doing whatever they can within the WTO to punish American companies and promote their own. they did the same bullshite with Microsoft about a decade ago
and this is rich
quote:
American rice farmers face strict limitations on their exports to the European Union, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines
oh gee i wonder why japan, SK, and the philippines would enact protectionist trade measures

Im only talking about the GMO seed in our food, do you realize that right?

Marketing scam. Sheep are stupid.
No. It's the whole "All Natural" bs that's a scam. The word organic actually means something. You actually have to go through a very lengthy process to have your food labeled "certified organic."
Technically, McDonalds can claim their chicken nuggets are "All Natural."

You sound like Mr Wonderful when he got schooled by the 15yr old girl about GMO
Im glad you support this shite. Hopefully we can get labeling but im sure you dont support that

The only organic products I buy on a regular basis is milk and eggs. I'd love to avoid pesticides in fruit but it's just not worth the price or the hassle to get them.

I shop at places like Whole Foods and Trader Joes for a few reasons.
One is the people who tend to shop at those stores.
Two would be knowledgeable staff on hand. Still remember when I went to Winn Dixie and asked a store clerk what aisle the couscous was on. His response was "the who?!?"
Three, the wide selection of meats and produce (mainly taking about WF).

the market should sort that out...it already is, in my experience. the organic, non-GMO shite advertises the hell out of it on their products

People will starve to death because of anti-GMO zelotry
it is the true self-fulfilling prophecy of the environazis who want society to devolve (and have billions of brown and yellow people die in the process)
quote:
Borlaug has been credited with saving the lives of one billion people, and received the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his success.
quote:
As Borlaug warned in 2004, success for the anti-GM lobby could be catastrophic: “If the naysayers do manage to stop agricultural biotechnology, they might actually precipitate the famines and the crisis of global biodiversity they have been predicting for nearly 40 years.”

Borlaug is the greatest human being that has ever lived on this earth.
