Yeah I was recently signed a new contract for 6GB on a family plan but was increased to 10GB for no charge.

I switched from unlimited to 6GB two months ago, because as far back as 2 years ago, I never went over 6. For the past two months, I have "supposedly" been hitting 6 in the middle of the month doing absolutely nothing

Your phone monitors what is consuming your data. Check it out.

That's partially why I refuse to give up my grandfathered unlimited data/hotspot on Verizon

Thats cool until you need a new phone. Most people won't be willing to pay full price for new phone to keep their unlimited.

Also it is my understanding that within the next year or so the subsidized plans will go away completely and your only option will be to buy the phone outright or use the Edge program (which is a pretty name for financing your phone).

Verizon is doing a lot right now to compete with the killer deals being offered by AT&T and T-mobile. My bill just got reduced by $20 per month for the same amount of data. I am getting 10 gb per month for 2 lines for $110 a month. I was paying $150 with my unlimited for both lines.

That's where I am at now for two lines, $110/mth. Then tack on all the gov't charges and other crap.

That Edge plan is why I want to get my phone upgraded before I am forced onto it. I did look into it and the "Edge Fee" for most phones I would want is under $25. That's important because on the Edge plan your monthly line access charge is reduced by $25/mth if you are on a plan over 10GB ($40 to $15 per line). So, in effect everything washes out and my monthly bill will remain the same. At least that is the way I am reading it. Maybe I should just go on the Edge Plan right now if there will be no difference?

I'd pay Nexus 6 handset full price for unlocked device that can be used on any carrier (keeps resale value higher).

Got my Note 3 for discount price as part of upgrade and kept my grandfathered data last year.

It's probably free for the first month then as a courtesy they will keep giving it to you for an extra $19.95 a month

Booga, see one of my previous posts. You need to go into your account online and manually change to the new plan. They aren't just going to give it to you.

How the hell are u guys bill so low? My bill is 122 a month(not including taxes and fees). I have two lines and 2gb, and I also have a 16% discount through my job. I feel like I'm getting raw dogged, after reading some of u guys posts. That $40 monthly access fee is a freaking joke.

I'm not sure where you're looking at plans.

I have 4 GB, Unlimited talk and text - $70
2 lines at $40 each.

$150 before all the insurance, tax, etc etc.

Watch your plan once the deal runs out. I wouldn't be surprised that the extra gig stays on your plan and charges you for it. VZW has pulled some shady shite multiple times with me.

Phone says I am at 2, but Verizon says I am at 5.94 for the month. I almost exclusively started using WiFi when it told me I was at 4.5gb two weeks ago, yet they still have me going up. I am on 4G right now though, but I turn off my data, and use WiFi most of the time

Eta: Just talked to them, and the guy said something was definitely up since I've averaged 4gb/mo for the past two years. Gave me a credit for this month and next, and told me to just use it regularly next billing cycle to see how high it will actually get

You need to call Verizon to make sure you are getting their best pricing.
