I work with 8 Venezuelans. Every last one of them are trying to get out of the country. Gas prices never come up in the conversations.

ETA - They always bring me bottles of the best rums I've ever tasted which cost on average $5 per bottle. So they have that going for them.

I'm sitting at this very moment right next to a person who was born, raised and has lived his entire life in Venezuela. He is telling me that you will likely be robbed and he recommends you do not travel there at this time. He left Maracaibo yesterday, his Venezuelan wife was robbed at gun point last week. I'll trust his word.

We work in Cameroon Africa and he's trying to move his family here for safety purposes. With Ebola knocking on our doorsteps, that should give you an idea of the conditions in Venezuela.

Your friend is correct. Ask him if he recognizes the name Thor Halvorssen

Gas prices are over $10/gal in Norway. I'd rather live in Norway than Venezuela.

It's very ironic that you compare those two nations.

My connection to both is the same person

I am in my 20's. My close friend is 71.

His brother actually died a couple weeks ago. It was a major blow to human rights in the latin american world.

Here is my friend's brother. LINK

They may pay $.06 for gas but bread is $12/loaf, milk is $25/gal and you can only buy shite paper on the black market. IF you can find any of them.

PASS!

They are also about to start fingerprinting everyone who buys these items to make sure they don't buy too much.

Venezuela is a mess yet they are sitting on an extraordinary amount of oil. The country would thrive is they had a free market system.

You could probably feed a Venezuelan for only 6 cents a day.
