are drum brakes still being used on regular automobiles?

back in the day, i worked at an auto parts place and i used to turn drums & rotors on the brake lathe. i was never taught properly how to do it, so there's no telling how many deaths i caused due to faulty brakes.

Without doing any Google searching for later vehicles, I can say with confidence that atleast until 2006/2007, Chevy trucks were using disk on the front and drum in the rear. Outside of potential cost reduction, there may be some benefit to drum but disc are usually more reliable.
