The LTV A-7 Corsair II is an American carrier-capable subsonic light attack aircraft designed and manufactured by Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV).

The A-7 was developed during the early 1960s as replacement for the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. Its design was derived from the Vought F-8 Crusader; in comparison with the F-8, the A-7 is both smaller and restricted to subsonic speeds, its airframe being simpler and cheaper to produce. Following a competitive bid by Vought in response to the United States Navy's (USN) VAL (Heavier-than-air, Attack, Light) requirement, an initial contract for the type was issued on 8 February 1964. Development was rapid, first flying on 26 September 1965 and entering squadron service with the USN on 1 February 1967; by the end of that year, A-7s were being deployed overseas for the Vietnam War.

Great looking model.

How do you display all the models you have made?

Nice work! The rare Darth model that isn’t from WWII.

I always did like the look of that plane.

my Dad spent 1972-1976 working on the radar and avionics of those aircraft at NAS Milington, NAS Pensacola and NAS Belle Chasse

I read where one old pilot said the A-7 was the most accurate plane he'd ever flown, as far as air to ground.
23rd TFW (Flying Tigers) flew these before they got A-10s.

Thanks. It’s not often I venture past WWII, but I do on occasion. I have a handful of of Cold War vehicles in the stash and one aircraft, an F-87 Saber.

I’ve got an M1A2 on order that should arrive Monday. But that’s neither going in the stash nor on one of my shelves. It’s a commission piece I’ve been called to build.

I have a spare bedroom upstairs I’ve turned into my model room.

I both build and display my models in here.

Are all those boxes by your desk models yet to be built, or boxes of ones already built?

Those are ones to be built. This pic is a little out dated though. I have a shelf sitting there now and I’ve moved my stash over to the RH side of my desk.

A few of these kits have been built and other kits added to the stash, especially after Christmas, since this pic was taken.

There’s a pretty constant flow of kits into and back out of my stash. But I usually hover around 80-90 kits in my stash. I’m going to start building it up more the closer I get to retirement. My plan is when we’re not traveling, galavanting, or doing whatever, I’ll be building my models.

Need some cool posters of planes or cool WW2 movie posters (like Kelly's Heroes and such)for the wall. Frame them up nice.

Would look really good.

I may be doing some models soon. Been wanting to get into it. Seems like a nice, relaxing hobby.

Such an ugly platform to take the iconic Corsair name.

It definitely got the job done, just so un sexy.

Thank you Vader for showing all of your models, they are all top notch. I always look forward to them and the discussions that follow. Couldn't reply to many of them because of a ban but man, you do awesome work.
