My daughter is competing on Sunday afternoon, and is excited about seeing the LSU campus. In light of recent events, any advice on areas of town to avoid?

Goodwood and Airline.

The campus should be safe, I take it?

Yeah I don't see why not. I wouldn't be surprised if they did have an increase in security but campus should be fine.
Don't go too far north of campus. It can get rough

I think my wife booked us at the Radisson off I-10 near Sanford a couple of miles off campus.

Your good. Despite all of the bitching and moaning on social media, there really isn't much going on in BR worth mentioning.

Not really the greatest place to stay honestly. One block north - Bawell St is not a good area at all. Try to stay south of I-10 if possible. Crown Plaza on Constitution or Renaissance on Bluebonnet would be better choices. You should be fine around campus. Just stay south of campus. Safe travels.

This. The track stadium is on Nicholson, and just north of that are a few restaurants (like VooDoo BBQ). It gets sketchy just a few blocks north, so stick to the south side of campus and you should be ok.
Good luck to your daughter!

Ignore everybody saying south of campus.
Your hotel is fine.
Go to overpass for dinner and drinks.
North campus too. It's safer than south campus/bright side.
No section 8 north of campus.

I'll be out there tomorrow for the qualifying round for an hour or two.

I'd be more concerned with Interstste noise than the little Valley Park hood. That's just silly.

Don't venture past the North Gates of LSU. Death or robbery is in your favor.

All around campus is bad no matter which way. You will be fine on campus
