A US town has rejected a proposal for a solar farm following public concerns.

Members of the public in Woodland, North Carolina, expressed their fear and mistrust at the proposal to allow Strata Solar Company to build a solar farm off Highway 258.

During the Woodland Town Council meeting, one local man, Bobby Mann, said solar farms would suck up all the energy from the sun and businesses would not go to Woodland, the Roanoke-Chowan News Herald reported.

Jane Mann, a retired science teacher, said she was concerned the panels would prevent plants in the area from photosynthesizing, stopping them from growing.

Ms Mann said she had seen areas near solar panels where plants are brown and dead because they did not get enough sunlight.

She also questioned the high number of cancer deaths in the area, saying no one could tell her solar panels didn't cause cancer.

I think these people water the plants with Brawndo because it has electrolytes.

Why couldn't they just come out and say they are ugly? Instead, they make up a bunch of random stuff that makes zero sense and look dumber than they already are

You can't say rain doesn't cause cancer. Look at all this rain outside and think about how many cancer patients there are. You just can't refute what you can look out your window and see.

These solar panels are only the beginning. Soon they will be putting them on beaches and that means less people will get vitamin D from sunlight, which will destroy our way of life and beautiful mullato skin.

Maybe these people are serious. Maybe not. But it's not difficult to find stupid people with ignorant theories. Anyone remember the U.S. congressman (Hank Johnson)who was afraid locating a military base on one side of an island (Guam) would cause the island to flip over? He votes for you!!

Watch any late night "man on the street" segment and the level of ignorance will scare you to the point its not humorous.

But our republic has survived. Thus far.

Although that's often the case, this time they included a link to their source, which is HERE.

You have to hunt through it a bit b/c the claims were sensationalized by the UK article but apparently such things actually were said and the commenters certainly noticed.
