Upper Respiratory virus

My 15 year old has some type of funk. Got tested for all viruses and came up negative. Symptoms are high fever, coughing, body aches and puking. Basically flu symptoms but not flu. Just seeing if anyone else has this and how long did it last.

lsunurse said make sure to get boosted, and you wouldn't have this RSV.

Yeh, it's going around. Ours lasted about 72 hours of high fevers and general funk.

Pediatrician friend of mine was talking about this a couple of weeks ago before the media caught wind. Definitely something going around.

Going on 7 days. No fever just all the cold symptoms.

There a ton out of school but they have the flu.

Most people test too soon when there is not enough virus in their system. If you wait to the 2-3 day mark something should show up unless they invented another new virus

I work in an ER and we are currently seeing a lot of exactly what you are describing. We are back to the pre covid environment of flu, rsv, and random “flu like viruses”. We also have some covid mixed in too.
As mentioned earlier, it seems to go away after 2-3 days and you should be drinking as much water or sports drink as you can keep down.
Food really isn’t important. You can get by just fine with no food at all for a couple of weeks. Don’t worry about that. Absolutely do worry about it if you can’t keep fluids down for more than 36-48 hours. If that is the case, get to a doctor to see how they want to handle the situation.

Yeh. Her doctor wants to see her again. She has asthma so any upper respiratory virus for her us a tad worse than others because the asthma acts up.

I’m on week 5 of the lingering cough after. Sucks.

Yep. I have something right now. Feels like a rough cold. Another friend has it too but he’s got it worse and needs to see a doc. Not sure what it is. Are docs prescribing steroids?

It’s terrible. And now I know it’s gonna make it’s way through the house. So we in for a terrible week or so.

My kids and wife have had it too. About three days of fever and body aches. Then a couple more days of lingering mild symptoms.
My wife is a secretary at an elementary school and they have been averaging 20% of kids and staff out.
This is just the pendulum swinging back when you try to isolate for two years.
Good luck to you and your family.
If I hear another person cough in my house, I’m getting rid of them.

We literally just got over RSV with the three year old about 3 weeks ago. Now this. I’m sick of people being sick.

Just had something last week. No puking though. Fever, cough, aches. Luckly it never got awful for me, but it lasted for 5 days. Tested negative for flu. Doctors basically told me to take tylenol for fever and that was it.
