Can we replace Weston-Broome with Williams-Tillman? She has my vote over our current sorry arse mayor.

It was at the Autozone on the corner of Greenwell Springs and Joor.

The perp had already been shot by the officer 4-5 times before the he beat the cop unconscious. An elderly customer came out the store and retrieved his .45. He walked up and put 2 in the guys chest and when he still kept beating on the officer he took a step closer and put one in his head.

It was over then.

sorta. The perp was pulled over for interrupting a funeral procession. Pulled him over in the Autozone parking lot where he proceeded to beat the officer in front of the store. Perp was black, officer was white, good Samaritan was white. I remember the racial stink made of this incident like it was yesterday.

That guy owned the car audio place at Airline and Greenwell Springs. I never knew that, and a couple years after the incident I had applied there for an opening. The guys dad was now running the place and went into this huge diatribe about how his son was wrongfully killed. He swore up and down it was a conspiracy by the coos and his toxicology results didnt show him being on anything. I coukd be wrong, but I highly doubt adrenaline would allow him to have taken that many shots.

I made a comment along the lines of saying if his son wouldnt have been beating the cop he would probably be alive right now. Needless to say I didnt get the job. Now that I look back, it was pretty insensitive to say that but I remember there being alot of divide in BR when that happened.

Sorry I missed the replies in this thread about the old Autozone case. I looked up some old articles on it. My original story recap from memory was pretty close.
---------------------

On Friday, Feb. 17, 2005, a CCW holder armed with a .45 caliber handgun saved a policeman's life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Officer Brian Harrision was escorting a funeral procession when he pulled over 24 year old George Temple II, a local businessman, to write him a ticket for breaking into the procession. That's when Temple physically attacked Harrison. During the struggle, which went to the ground, Officer Harrison shot Temple once in the abdomen. Police say Perry Stephens, who was wearing a neck brace and using a cane, was walking out of a store when he heard Officer Harrison yelling for help. Harrison was on his back with Temple on top of him. Stephens went to his car and grabbed his .45 caliber pistol.

Stephens ordered Harrison's attacker to stop the attack and get off the officer. The verbal commands were ignored. The armed citizen fired four shots, all of which struck Temple in the torso. With Temple still on top of the officer, Stephens advanced toward the struggle. He again ordered Temple to stop the attack, and get off the officer. Those commands were ignored. Stephens then fired a fifth and final shot into the head of George Temple.
-------------------------

Pretty Savage. Took 6 shots in total. 5 of which came from a .45

You know the treatment of Howie Lake and Blane Salamoni were going through this officer's head as he battled this thug. Now an officer is seriously injured because BLM made him too scared to pull the trigger.

That post from Gary Chambers is perhaps the most predictable comment imaginable from him.

What I think is also predictable is that the next time the police shoot and kill a white suspect Gary will have absolutely no comment whatsoever.

Good woman right there.

Edit: and situations like this are why we think cops use excessive force.
