I switched back to starting strength after realizing I'm still a novice.

185x5x3 bench yesterday
255x5x3 squat

6'0 180. Started off in the winter at 167 skinny fat.

Unfortunately i have hit a plateau due to me cutting kinda hard for a beach trip.

Gonna keep at greyskull for a good bit longer until i am back over 400 for deads and 350 for squats(had surgery and had to start light.)

Then i am switching back to 5/3/1 uaing the new building the monolith twmplate he just released. LINK

Program is bad arse but not for the faint of heart.

How is the recovery coming?
777...I've heard that is a beast mode template. I'm sticking with triumvirate until the 12 month mark as I'm still easily surpassing the prescribed reps each workout.

I'd love to be able to hit that bench number one day.
long way to go, but the journey itself is worth it wherever I end up

Can't believe I waited 35 years to lift weights.

Ankle is still a little sore and it will slightly swell if I'm on it too much.

Static movements where my feet are planted like squats are fine. Cleans/Snatches are on hold for a while.

Left leg is obviously behind the right and was sore a shite last week, even with the normally warmup weight I hit last week.

I tried it for two cycles but didn't feel like I was getting enough work.

Will do it again once I've built up to a base level of strength.

How is everyone's training going this week? I'm in week 2 of my 6th cycle of the program and still busting PRs. Anyone else still in the program?

I'm doing a hybrid of Johnny Pain's LP and the old school West coast barbell. Its going well. I dropped down the weights good bit, so yesterday I did squats 3x3 for 315lbs then a backoff set of ten reps for 225lbs. 2x5 then 1x8 Shoulder press 115lbs. 3 sets of 10 pullups then tabata rows on the C2. Some ab work was mixed in there somewhere too.

This program has driven me to be the most consistent I've been in years...going on 24 straight weeks and haven't missed a workout yet.

Word to the wise...the recovery days and deload weeks are important especially when you start getting up in weight. For.those of you who feel like you weren't getting enough work trust me...use your first two cycles to master form. You get more out of reps with perfect form and less weight than trying to be Jonny sizzle chest curling 135 in the squat rack
...the form serves you well when you get to heavier weights. I just threw 3hundo on my back for the first time two.weeks ago and felt great.

Its raining gainz brah. I do love 531 though. Years ago I was up to squatting 450 and dead lifting over 500 on it. Stay the course; which is what it looks like you're doing.

I liked doing the challenges that Wendler would post on TNation and his website (Boring but Big Challenge, Beyond 531 challenge). Kept things from getting boring. I couple of weeks ago he posted the 531 For Size template on his website. Check it out if you haven't already.

I'm in the middle of moving ... long story but i don't really have a gym until August 1.

Then i will go beast mode again. Will only take 2-3 months to get back to form.
