The part that really chaps my panus is the fact that they lost their cab and had to walk home. It just really sucked for them and ruined their good time. Our servicemen sacrifice so much, they deploy, move all over, get disabled and killed in the line of duty

You make it sound like half the people replying in this Thread and saying it happens all the time and that it's no big deal aren't all Veterans or Active Duty. We know what we signed up for. It is what it is. If you don't wanna be bothered at the gate then live off post or don't go through it all fricked up. And you don't have to point out that we deploy and move and die and lose limbs. We know.
That's why losing a cab is a big LOL

There is a sign posted on most any base/camp I've been on that says something along the lines of "Once you agree to enter this post you can be searched/detained/etc. at any point." with a UCMJ reference.

They do make people give random piss tests at night coming through the gate. A buddy of mine had to weiner watch a few times on Friday nights when I was stationed in Columbus.

I just don't live on base so it doesn't affect me.

There's a reason when you go through the gate even with a DD or cab you shut your mouth and do your best to act normal. I learned that after the first time getting car searched. They always think you are more than drunk.also it catches a ton of underage drinkers which usually were let go with a don't come on base drunk again (esp since most underage lived in barracks)..

And the amount of DUIs of people who tested going through at 3am....Jesus

Something is wrong with that scenario. SPs/MPs can't order a random drug test at the damn entrance to post.
I'm guessing she lost her cool sooner than later which gave the SPs reason to frick with them.

i alwas laughed at how packed the visitor center parking lot was on Sunday mornings from all the drunk joes parking there and then walking to the barracks to avoid going through the gate. DWI on post is nothing to even play with in the military. they take that shite very seriously

Well, that order is usually given by the installation commander. Pull over X percentage of base entrants for vehicle inspections, then X percentage of them must give samples. Generally it's the result of recent drug activity, a higher-than-usual number of DUIs, or just a random anti-terrorism measure for security purposes.

There's probably a low-ranking officer or senior enlisted there to help enforce the urinalysis. The SPs just direct you to whereever they're told to send you, like in the parking lot of the visitor's center.

Sorry your friend ended up drafted and forced into military service. Oh wait, I bet they volunteered. This is part of it. There is a reason "embrace the suck" is a well known term to AD military.

Your friend's wife is lucky she didn't earn a LOR or Article 15.

Hell, year ago I got slammed off base, walked back to base and ended up in the brink overnight due to drunk and disorderly. All I did was take a nap on someone's lawn because I was tired.
