Underrated places to live?

Was going through Livability's top places to live in America and the majority seemed to be out west with a few scattered in other places.
With that being said what are some of the most underrated places in America for someone in their mid-late 20s to live?

We could throw up several hundred answers. What kind of place are you looking for?

Looking for somewhere that's similiar to the criteria on that list.
Not too big, but not too small. I'm an avid runner/outdoors guy so that's preferred. And a big fan of an awesome local food scene. Would be nice to be somewhere that sports are tied into the culture as well.

Northeast Ohio. Eastern Cleveland suburbs. I couldn't hack it, but maybe you could. Well to do area and crazy sports fans.

I've never been there, but Asheville NC seems like it would be pretty kick arse.
Just get far away from rednecks and trash and you will be good.

Asheville always has a smattering of both pretty much everywhere you go (although the hillbilly type is a sort of different variant of redneck), such that you are never truly far away from that. It's still a rather neat place.

Chattanooga would be worth a look. It's definitely on the up and up IMO.
