It was soaking in marinade.

Hope I don't get banned for asking! I realize the existence of the fragile feelings on here!

It's in a marinade, you should never eat marinated steak.

Me too. I’ve left all kinds of shite out overnight that I have seen threads on where we people swore against it (jambalaya, gumbo, etc)

Never even used to think twice about it until this site

I still don't think about it. People are paranoid. I also still drink out of old garden hoses sometimes so wtf do I know.

Marinade kills the bacteria. I give a steak a 48 hour window unrefrigerated before I toss it.

Dude, don't Google it. Never Google anything. It's always going to give you the canned safest most inclusive non controversial answer possible. Exception is symptoms of illness. In that case, you're gonna die quickly and miserably if you don't seek professional medical attention.

You fricked it up by putting it in marinade, not by leaving it out all night.

Salt is used as a preservative. Was it a salty marinade?
