OP is retarded and left out the biggest part

a flat-rate price of $275 a credit hour for returning adults.

For returning adults

This isn’t for all students, just adults who started a degree and didn’t finish

First downvote. You left out a key part to the article. This is for adults returning to school. Tuition is unchanged for current and new students out of high school. Your post is in line with fake news.

I don't think there are enough "college" jobs for 60% of the population.

I like how we have left out that the tuition for regular students remains unchanged

This is basically just for those who have some credit but never finished or some shite

The ULL system is getting their arse handed to them now that LSU went to holistic admissions.

And good luck with that funding model. Tuition increases can only be approved by the state legislature. What makes fiscal sense today will bite them in the arse tomorrow

LSU went to holistic admissions because they need butts in the classrooms. It's the same reason the LSU system increased the acceptance rate and lowered the ACT score to a 22 on the sliding scale. The school has grown so much that they are running short on funding for some of the majors that shouldn't even exist. What they should be doing is consolidating their top departments and cutting from the ones that have barely any students majoring there. Also right now, we are experiencing budget shortages in all 3 university systems; so adding students even with decreasing tuition will allow for more funding to certain colleges within the universities (the more students in the art school, the more funding the art school receives). Again, consolidation across the board. I remember when I was at UL(L) ten years ago, they cut the Philosophy department and consolidated it with English. There was a protest on campus about it. Well, when only SIX students are majoring in the subject within a university of close to 20k, why should the state fund that? More schools, including LSU, need to put their foot down and do the same.

The issue that I have with all of this is the fact that, as others mentioned, we are not focusing on the big picture here......the job market. We will now charge less for students to attend our schools as they will still leave for a job in Texas, Georgia, etc.

Until we bring more industry to the state, nothing will change.

Dr. Henderson is legit. He was a breath of fresh air in his short time here in Natchitoches as NSU's President.

Hey dipshit, if the story was updated after I posted it, how is that selective editing and clickbait title?

I’m going to update it right now. Some of the stuff wasn’t included in the Advocate’s original story.

returning students who tried, failed, and stayed away from college for four years.

No discount for the current kids / students.

I'm wondering where they're getting these numbers. No way 44% of Louisianans have a college degree.

Probably including the ones that left the state after they graduated.

Good idea to encourage adults to better themselves by furthering the education they've already started. Having more highly educated residents/voters/taxpayers is a GREAT thing for Louisiana.
