AI will replace a lot of coding. We have already incorporated an AI bot into some of what we are doing. It will dramatically increase.

We have enough coders, too many coders in fact.

Say, instead of creation, have you tried deletion?

AI can't replace plumbers, electricians, etc

That South Park episode where the blue collar workers become the richest will ring true.

I was reading on a group on Facebook how cabinet builders are charging $1000 per LF in some areas and have a year-long wait list. For comparison, you can get RTA cabinets for about $130 per LF, and Kraftmaid ordered from Home Depot for $180 to $500 per LF depending.

One guy charged $7K for a 6' custom vanity. He probably had 40 hours and $500 in materials in it.

Coders are a dime a dozen. Good coders with the ability to critically think and problem solve will be just fine. Problem is, too many baristas that had no business learning code signed up for bootcamps and are now useless.

Probably, but at least for a while I would imagine that there will be people who audit the code that AI is creating in order to verify it's accuracy.

AI and tech in general has increased the need for cyber security personnel. Ton of openings everywhere.

We should probably sandbox all AI-generated code until it is checked, forever.

If there is a significant dip in demand for coders, I think it will be temporary and we will need even more people than before to audit all this new code.

There’s a difference between someone who can write code and someone who can think, create requirements out of plain English, plan a project then execute, deliver and maintain that solution.

AI is a long way from being able to do that.

That’s because cabinet makers are not replaceable by DIYers- it’s literally an art and requires a minimum of two people. I’ve had (3) different jobs from a cabinet maker and there are so many variables that go into a successful cabinet replacement for a reno. Not speaking to you Stout but to the people who complain about custom cabinet prices.

Yeah, get an English degree instead. AI will never replace that.

People that can write code are useless. People that can write code, design solutions, and understand issues are good to go.

I work with a shite ton of offshore developers, they require you to tell them exactly what to do all day. It's actually more efficient for me to just ignore them and do it myself.

It's a catch 22. If AI replaces tons of jobs these companies will experience big demand drop off for their products. Consumer spending is 70% of GDP.

Or the govt will just hand out more money and tell people to go spend it.

The green line MUST go up!

We obviously just need to lower taxes so the job-creators will hire more people.

What we're going to need are more skilled tradesmen. Plumbers, electricians, welders, machinists, and mechanics. With the exceptions of things like medicine, law, and engineering, colleges need to shrink. We need actual skills, not just heads full of worthless information.

That’s why they’re enacting population control. They’re trying to kill off all of the people they no longer need. Rather than have an elite, a middle class, and a large poor population, there will only be elites and their servants.
