IF you do the math, you make less than minimum wage. You can find the studies online. Have fun.

Search. We had a thread on this topic. Seems $10 profit should be expected.

Per hour.

You'll get a myriad of responses. Some will be arbitrary and some nebulous. Just remember the wear and tear of the vehicle is the most costly overhead.

I'm sure you can make decent money in New Orleans, but you'll have to subtract any money you lose due to robberies, carjackings and kidnappings. Rapings won't cost you anything financially but there's an emotional cost so I'm told.

You're a smart guy. Think of other ways to make extra money.

There was a thread on reddit the other day about Uber and Lyft and the amount of semen, feces, and vomit they deal with would easily deter most people.

I signed up for it and did it a few times back in September or last year. There is money to be made if you work late nights but have to deal with drunks. The market is saturated in Nola and I found it's not worth it. Although, airport runs are lucrative, like $25-30 a run.

I had a Lyft driver last night tell me he makes about $100/nt but works from 8-2am

This

I opt out of not doing it anymore because I would make like $10/hr driving after work for a few hours.

Met a guy this weekend in Biloxi who lives in Jackson but stays in Biloxi ata hotel during the summer to drive. In the winter he stays in Oxford and drives for the Ole Miss football season.

The profit margins for jazz fest, LSU games, etc with surge pricing seem like a good deal. I'm guessing in day-to-day operations, you would do better delivering pizzas.

I tried it for a few months.

You are trading the equity in your car for $10-12 an hour.

Yeah, you can make some money with the surge, but most of the time you have to be in the right place at the right time. Chasing the surge is very tough to be consistently good at.

The airport runs are pretty good on the face of it. You might make a pickup in the CBD for an airport run. You drop the fare, and go to the Uber lot to wait your turn for a return run into the city. But you see the queue is estimated at a 90 minute wait, and there are a hundred other Ubers waiting with you. And when you do get your alert for a passenger, that passenger wants to go to their house in Airline Park. So you only make $5 instead of the $25 going into the city. You make $5 after waiting in the hot sun for 90 minutes.

Most of the riders are decent people, but you will encounter some really shitty people also.

Don't do it!!
