not really man, maybe on the way back from Hawaii for the Tiger cruise, but other than that, maybe just a couple times on a 6th month deployment

We did them at least a couple times a week

Sorry for the human toll, I would doubt they find them now.

For the record, the F/A-18C's price tag is somewhere around $60 million per unit.

we can replace $120 million worth aircraft alot easier than we can replace all the training and skill that was invested in the pilot that is missing. Then on top of that is the fact that one of our brave men/women isn't coming home. So I hope they find him.

Do you even google?

wiki says: Unit cost

US$29–57 million (2006)

These were F/A18 C (single seater hornet) so they would be leaning more towards the 29M side since the Super Hornets (E/F variants) are the new F/A for the USN

If he ejected, there's a beacon that's set off (if the batteries are good, they weren't in the F-15 crash a couple of weeks ago) and we should find him rather quickly.

back in the day a carrier would lose 1 or 2 air crews per 18 month deployment

that sucks. I have a former roommate on a carrier currently in the West Pacific....can't imagine it there would be any other carrier in that region.
