NOPD: French Quarter robbery victim in critical condition after suspects beat him
The New Orleans Police Department says that just before 9 p.m., the two victims were attacked by four to five men in the 200 block of Bienville Street. The group beat them, stole their wallets and cell phones, and fled.

Well, my 2-3 night New Orleans trips are done when I come home. Last thing I need is to be randomly beaten just because I want to have a couple of nice nights

That's actually a kind of rough spot. Not well lit and a lot of trash hangs out in that area

Were they a gang of Asian Ninjas? Orthodox Jews? Did the men getting mugged/beaten not have an opportunity to see their attackers?
I hate this newfound phenomenon of being unable to describe criminals anymore.
APB: Be on the lookout for a: Male, 5'7"-6'2", 140-230 pounds. This is about as accurate as the general public can expect now.
Edit: Was at the Westin last weekend. That is not a sketchy area. Especially at 9PM

Not at all. I usually dismiss these stories, despite the histrionics of the OT regulars, because they happen off the beaten path and / or involve other activity but this should not have happened right there. I would sure like to know more about this event and what precipitated it.
