So, I have noticed from years on the OT that people on the internet are about 95% d-bags. Why?
Don't know.

go read up on the closing gaps amongst developed and developing nations.

I've studied this subject in multiple contexts.

The current trend of the world is the smart getting smarter and the rich getting richer. It's getting harder and harder to move up to the higher tiers of success and power without being born into it.

Evolution is taking an interesting turn.

Have you read the theory that the human race will split into two types. An intelligent hardworking problem solving set of humans and a second set of low intelligence low cognitive ability humans. Whether the two can work together is an interesting issue. Because the highly intelligent could so easily dominate and manipulate them so easily.

I tend to disagree...

I think I base most of my thinking here on survival.

If you took an idiot from 3000 years ago and an idiot from today, then dropped the both of them in the wilderness with basic tools and limited supplies, and told them to survive - I'd put my money on the idiot from 3000 years ago.

just look at basic things like literacy rates

quote:

Technology is partly why I think we're smarter as a whole. If I need or want to understand something, I'm no longer limited in what is available to me to learn. It's like we have a library at our fingertips but with videos and helpful links a click away without which I would know nothing or have to learn on my own which could takes weeks or months depending on the task I was trying to learn.

people develop mythologies and preferences for what they know. funny enough, part of this is suggested to be due to intelligence limits. old people by and large are not able to mentally undertake the technology developed in their old age.

Okay, and that would effect him so negatively how?

I would say that the 3000 year old idiot would come along faster in the information age, than the idiot of today out in the wilderness.

I would put money in that guy too. He probably has experience there. But drop them in a locked house with frozen food and a microwave and I'll bet on the guy from LP.

have you looked at any "idiot" job lately? I believe the people who build the Coliseums (they are still standing) weren't real fricking bright, yet those places stand, still. You know of any plumbing or architecture that will stand the test of centuries?

Are you serious? The colesium has been rebuilt a few times. It has different walls in different places. And some of our buildings could and will outlast it.
