I need recommendations for a trip am planning to Asia with 12 days in India and seven in Thailand, not including travel days. We are flying in and out of both Bangkok and New Delhi. We are traveling with our two grade school children.

We are planning on spending a few days in Bangkok, then maybe Phuket. Any other suggestions?

In India, we'll spend a couple days in Delhi, then maybe Agra and Jaipur. Traveling with small children, our sightseeing won't be aggressive, so really just one, maybe two sites per day.

I have already purchased the plane tickets but nothing else. I assume we'll get a car and driver each day.

Itinerary recommendations? Reliable travel agent recommendation? One that can line up a car and driver, rides from the airport, hotels, etc? Any hotel recommendations?

Ditch Phuket and do Chang Mai.

If you have to do the beach or island, go to Krabi or some other more remote area. Phuket is a tourist trap

I heard there's a good new deli in New Delhi and it's easy to accidentally bang cock in Bangkok.

Agreed, but it's easier to fly into Phuket and then take the ferry to Krabi. Takes about 2 hours. I prefer Phi Phi to Krabi though and it's about the same distance or closer to Phuket if I remember right.

I leave Friday for Thailand and Cambodia. Doing two days in Phuket and two in Siam Reap Cambodia to see Angkor Wat, the rest will be in Bangkok. Here is a thread I bookmarked from the past on Thailand.

I went to India in 2013 and Thailand a couple months ago.

Agra is the worst of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. Tripadvisor is going to be pretty accurate on what to see in all 3. Jaipur has a lot of elephant parks (if you don't have issues with those) and a monkey temple your kids may like. I suggest not riding the elephants at Amber (Amer) Fort in Jaipur. Its pretty brutal on them.

On the way to Jaipur from Agra, if traveling by car, have your driver stop at the Chand Baori Step Well. I know a good driver if you want to email him, he'll pick you up at 1AM at Delhi airport and be around you all day and do all your driving. Its what they all should do. We just don't have anything quite like that here in the US.

Ya, lots of choices of islands and most, if not all are better than Phuket.

30 minutes by speedboat from Phuket is the island I stayed at, Ko Yao Noi. One of the quietest and least developed of all of the islands, and it was very family friendly from my experience. Not the best beaches though. You can take boat trips to the karsts though which is cool.

Woke up to this every day and had breakfast:

Forgot to share. You can even see a cobra at Amber Fort in Jaipur if you're lucky enough. There is also a Tiger Park in that "Golden Triangle" area but won't be open during monsoon season.

In New Delhi see The Red Fort and Connaught Circle. The Artist Emporium in Delhi is also excellent. I'm pretty sure that the road to Agra from Delhi is new, but any detour off that road will lead you to the old India, as in the traffic becomes significantly more dangerous. God there were some absolutely beautiful new roads there.

Jaipur is amazing. You should go to the Jal Mahal, which is the palace in the middle of the lake. I think they recently renovated it. For cheap lodgings there is a guest house at (I think) the University of Delhi where you can get cheap rates and it is pretty clean. It has been some time since I've been (like 5 years) and India is changing quickly, so take some of this with a grain of salt.

Always drink mineral water. Do not drink the water there at all. With young children there is a high likelihood they will get sick regardless, so I would keep some pepto bismol handy at all times.
