I think you need to brush up on the "morals" we used to get to this point

You’re saying the Assyrians developed in order to help the other cultures survive?

States were developed for one reason and one reason only. To gain power and wealth for those at the head of the state.

It’s eat or be eaten. Always has, always will.

It’s very clear that we have extremely different views on what drives humanity. Nothing wrong with that. You just have an optimistic and idealistic view on people and their intentions.

My issue isn’t what drives humanity, it is what should be taught to advance it. It seems like you think children should be taught “to get theirs and frick everyone else.” I just don’t think that is a building block that has been successful over the history of human society.

Morals are to fight against what is natural. Right now our “morals” are in the gutter. That doesn’t make me communist. It makes me want a greater world and country to live in for my kids and grandkids. I feel like our morals are slipping.

But morals were taught for the betterment of the group as a whole. That is why it must be learned. We over me

This is true in theory, and yes morals are taught & molded all the way through adulthood. Honestly they are a work in progress. Just because we as humans are faulted. We are weak, and we have free will. With that makes us bend and compromise our morals to fit our needs. Some people use it for good, some for bad.

quote:

I don’t steal from my neighbor because it hurts all of us. And if I know of someone stealing I want him separated because it hurts all of us.

Hurts the person or persons he's stealing from. If he's not stealing from me, it doesn't hurt or affect me. My neighbor being upset and affected allows me to have sympathy for them, and I feel for them, but overall, it doesn't affect my life. So in essence it doesn't "hurt" all of us. But I get your point.

quote:

Now it is, frick that. It’s about me and mine and I don’t care about anyone else. There is no attempt at worrying about the greater good.

This is just society now. It's trickled down from the elites finally. With the technology we have now, were everything is instant, gratification for all. It's just how it's going to be. Hopefully something comes along and shifts society away from the individual bubble everyone is in. But's its going to have to be an asteroid level event to shift society. Elites have been doing what's best for them, their wallet, and their own needs for centuries. Now the general public is like that. Mainly young, careless, and immature people. You have to scratch and claw to survive these days, and if you don't bust your arse, you will starve.

quote:

And I don’t want to snitch because I was taught it was bad so the people doing bad stuff wouldn’t get caught. And I don’t care about laws, it’s about whatever you can get away with.

Again, this is human nature. Not society. But their is a social aspect to this since certain groups value this type of activity over most other things. Especially the ability to breath. If groups of people threaten your ability to do that, you are going to sew your lips shut and look the other way. Or leave for a different place. Which is always an option, but not a safe or possible solution financially for a lot of people.

So, humanity up til now hasn’t been a success? Everything you have is due to the self centered me first attitude of the human species.

EVERYTHING

Morals are to fight against what is natural. Right now our “morals” are in the gutter.

How so?
quote:

That doesn’t make me communist.

No, collectivism does. We before me does.

quote:

It makes me want a greater world and country to live in for my kids and grandkids

Like I said, you’re an idealistic person. Nothing wrong with that. You just fail to grasp reality and what it is to be human. Btw, capitalism (me before we) has led to the best life humans have ever lived.

You seem like a miserably negative person who doesn’t give a frick about anyone else and their well being. I’m glad I don’t know you.

Let me guess, you are an anarchist?

How do laws fit into your worldview? What is their purpose?

Did you know you could be all about helping your fellow man without thinking the government should be mandating how, when, and why you do it?

I’m actually extremely happy and positive. True, I don’t give a frick about you. Or your. But, I don’t know you. So why should I care about you?

Do you care about the plight of the random person in a village on the other side of the world? Of course not. That person has no impact on you.

Nope. I believe in an extremely limited federal govt and an extremely powerful st govt. what works in California doesn’t work in Mississippi. What works in Alabama doesn’t work in Alaska. What works in Florida doesn’t work in New York. Return the power to the states. The only thing the feds should have any power over is foreign policy, national defense, and making sure states adhere to the constitution.

At no point have said the goverment should go anything. I’m talking morals and what is taught to children. (Morals don’t come from the goverment).

In it's simplest form, I believe that is what Children should be taught. To be able to survive, you have to be able to take care of yourself, be productive, and useful to society. You can't worry about what other people are doing short term, you have to do you, and get yours. To Survive. Eye of the Tiger....lol

Also along the way, you teach your kids to be respectful, have manners, value the good things you value. Basically the ten commandments. Which you can argue religion blah blah, but the ten commandments are a building block for being a decent human. Whether you are plane jane atheist or devout (enter religion here). Then you hope and pray that all the good things you've taught your kids, is practiced, applied, and they learn to pass it on to others, and their children. That's how you build a society that values good. But it's 50/50, it either pays forward, halfway or not at all. It all ends up on the shoulder of the individual to make choices.

Yep. Focus on you and yours. Help others if you can, but always place yourself and your family first. Don’t do bad to others, don’t steal, don’t kill, etc. but defend your family and your property with ferocity.

Do everything in your power to give your kids a life that is better and easier than your own.

But apparently I’m a miserable and cold person

You just go through saying that didn’t matter and society has never cared about this and I’m a commust for thinking this.
