You don't know that for sure. You may feel like you've done enough reading on it but you never know if someone else knows more. For all you know, someone could be a Dr that sits on a board for this type of shite.

Just didn't like how you stated it, especially since you don't know the guy. It came off as very childish. Not a big deal to me though, just saying.
Unless he's deliberately misleading me to believe he knows less than he really does, then I 'know' to a reasonable degree of confidence that I know more than he does about this.

I don't understand the controversy in saying something like this. It's not a value judgment. I'm not saying I'm better than he is. I'm just saying I know more about this than he does.

I know more than most people do about this because I've read a lot about it. Again, it's not that I'm better than anyone because of it. I just know more about it.

Some people take comments like that way too personally

Dude you can't even figure out that I'm not a doctor even after I told you I'm not one. You gotta be trolling

Says the guy who has looked at pics of dudes after they got reassignment surgery. Wtf would even possess you to do something so gay? That is, of course, if you were straight to begin with.

Doctor, .. almost a doctor, ... read a few books on a subject and act like a doctor, ... who gives a shite!??! You are a narcist with a superiority complex. I don't have to prove anything to you BUT if you read what I wrote carefully you would have seen I used common terms to agree with you.

I simply don't agree that at any time should one validate these feelings that queer (look it up in the dictionary. There are few enough to qualify.) They are not normal and should never be allowed to think they are.

You still have no idea as to how much training I have on this ... and I don't care to share .... especially given your holier-than-though attitude based on a relatively little amount of reading.

Nothing personal taken. It's not about me. It's about someone with no professional training nor personal dealings in a work or social environment declaring he knows more than others.

Reading the entire post reveals volumes on the personality of the individual.

I simply see a narcissist believing that he is somehow an expert based on having read some books. The information posted, however, reveals something entirely different.

Maybe he should read some more or chose better books.

I care about trans issues because I have a few friends who have come out as transgender and subsequently transitioned after spending a lot of time in therapy and consulting medical professionals. At first it was difficult to understand and I had a lot of misconceptions about trans issues, but I put in the effort to learn about it because I care about my friends.

I would find new fricking friends.

I have an uncle who has been a pre-op "aunt" since the early 90s, who lived with us for awhile because he had nowhere else to go. I would venture to say I know more than anyone else on this site who isn't a) a tranny or b) a mental health professional. Yet I have not been in here giving my 2 cents.

Why?

It isn't worth it. Trust me when I say it's shitty mental health science layered on top of things which good science has trouble figuring out, or what good science know and mental health science REFUSES to admit.

I'll say my piece once.

My uncle is 100% male, yet has a chest cavity closer in shape to a female, and he didn't start taking hormones till he was almost 30. However that is the only thing which physically even hints at being a female below the surface. His story to get to "gender dysphoria" is the same as most. As a young child, an adult tainted his mind by coaxing him into actions which altered his sense of reality. "Gender dysphoria" cases are 95% on adults, but no one wants to admit this in the industry. If you were to look at the role their upbringing played in their lives, I almost guarantee you would see a startlingly consistent narrative play out.

Especially in cases of male to female, which 3x more likely than female to male transitions. There is a reason why male to female transitions are skyrocketing in an age of shitty parenting, high divorce, and most importantly radical feminism, which has affected both a man's role in child rearing, and women's perspectives on gender roles. Even the perspectives of women who don't hold serve with the beliefs of the movement.

If I am not mistaken you heavily support gay rights. Just so happens radical feminism and gay rights truly can't work together. I've had the discussion with gay friends who are activists in the DC area. They maintain feminism is hurting their movement greatly. They also don't think the 2 movements can coexist in the same platform.

I could dig far deeper into this, and I'm simply giving a cursory overview of my stance, but there is the gist of it. I will add I am speaking strictly on so called gender dysphoria, not those who have legitimate birth defects clouding their gender.

I agree with Hill On A Hog.

You guys don't seem to understand. Biological sex and gender are not the same. Biological sex is determined by a person's DNA, however gender is determined by how a person feels. Therefore, a person, biologically is generally male or female; their gender can be comparatively different. Their gender could be female, though they are male, or male though they are female, or apple though they are female, or giraffe though they are male.

It's 2016, gender is ultimately a useless descriptor now. As Hog On The Hill pointed out, there's so much politically driven pseudoscientific babble attached to the topic that it would make flat earthers blush.

As a gender fluid individual, loving penis empowers my femininist female side and defines my gay male side.

This is why we can't have decent discourse in this country anymore. The second someone says something we disagree with, we instantly start shouting them down with name calling.

I am far from a bigot, and I'm not sure how you can read that and say I am. I have a transgender uncle who use to live with us, and I mentioned discussion with gay activists in the DC area who I call friends. Good friends actually.

"I'm not racist, I have a black friend."

I only read On A Hog Hill's posts, his are the most objectively informative since he cures cancer in gay teens.

Lemme guess: this thread is full of losers who think the worst part about this story is anything other than the fact that the contemporaneous he was beaten up by bullies.
