Smart. That car has another 125k in it. Had a Camry over 200k and sold it to a younger family member. Should have kept it to be honest. It ran great and it had zero issues

Toyota certifying at 125k is equivalent to Nissan/Hyundai/Kia/Chevy/Jeep/Ford/Volkswagen/Volvo/BMW/Chrysler/Buick/GMC certifying at 3 miles.

No big deal, just no other car company certifies a 10yr old car with 125,000 miles.

I don’t know if there is a way to make it economically feasible; but if a auto maker could figure out how to do what Caterpillar has done with a lot of its earthmoving machines, that would be awesome. What I’m talking about is Certified rebuild. Cat designs most of their machines to have two, sometimes more, lives.

For example, you can buy something like a Cat D6, run it for its normal lifespan, usually around 15,000 -20,000 hours. At that time you can bring it back to the dealership and have it stripped down to the frame and completely rebuilt from the ground up. When the job is done you have a new machine with new machine warranty for roughly about 70% the cost of an actual new machine.

It's just a year powertrain warranty...

I've driven many cars with over 125k miles on them with no issues.. Including, may I say, Chevys...

Now, if they did three years, I'd be impressed.

Typically it’s hard to get a loan on a car older than 10 years with more than 120k so I’m guessing this will help banks make that process easier.
Especially now that these are the only cars many people can afford.

Toyotas hold there value.

I just traded in. 2012 Tacoma 4x4 with 237k miles on it and a carfax that shows I hit a deer and did moderate damage to the front end and whole left side.

I got 10k for it.

I bought a 2020 Tundra SR5 4x4 with 40k miles. I plan on putting 200k more on her.

Yeah but all the 100k maintenance will be done and allow people to finance an older car that many banks will not.

I think Toyotas quality is a little overstated. The quality in their cars are not as good as they were previously. But that is for all manufacturers

No one is saying you have to, dumb arse. There are plenty of people that will though.

Modern automakers are only interested in packing more features (crap with garbage electronics) into larger models with higher profit margins. Planned obsolescence is in full effect in the modern automobile.

It also blows my mind that the average consumer is stupid enough to consider a subscription service to drive a car.

The reconditioning process on a certified car is far more detailed than a normal preowned vehicle. If car doesn't meet certain standards the dealership has to replace the part / fix the issue in order to call it certified.

This. The usual suspects are glazing the frick out of the frick out of Toyota for "certifying" a vehicle to a max 137000 miles.

I had a 2016 Tundra with close to 200K. Perfect, except it was 2WD. I have to evaluate virgin properties sometimes for work and got stuck twice in one week.

I got a 4wd F150 Lariat. I regret the decision. I should have kept it or got a 4WD Tundra. One of the reasons was fuel economy. The 5.6 Tundra got about 12-14 mpg so that was another reason. If I could go back, I would have gotten a 4wd Tundra and kept the 2wd for my son. It was that good.
