Made a car rental reservation with Enterprise car rental through Hotwire. The reservation stated that Enterprise accepts both credit cards and debit/check cards.
However, upon arrival, the representative told me I needed at least 2 utility bills if using a debit card. As my utility bills are paid on line, I could not produce them.
With my reservation denied, I went to Avis and was able to rent a car with my debit card.Avis performs credit checks, while Enterprise demands archaic paperwork which no one carries on their person, nor was there any such instructions on the reservation.
I guess other people are lying too?
She only uses a debit card, you have to have a credit card.
asshats the lot of yall

I had a friend come in town from L.A. and she rented a car from the Gonzales Enterprise with no problems

We want to rent to everyone we possibly can so it’s no problem if you don’t have a credit card. Our local offices are happy to help you. We do ask customers to bring in a few extra items before renting. The reason for this is a credit card shows that your credit check and background check have already qualified you for a predetermined line of credit while your debit card does not require the same qualifications. You can find details about our debit card policy online using the link provided. LINK
We'd be happy to speak with you directly about this. Please email care@enterprise.com with any rental agreement or reservation numbers, the full details of your rental and your contact information. Sorry your friend has shitty credit
Why couldn't your friend just use a credit card? Since they are this supposed 6 figure making OT baller?

This is true. Rented a car a couple of weeks ago and the guy who was in front of me was denied his reservation because he only had a debit card. This was with Enterprise in an airport though, so I think it's a debit card thing, not a location of the rental place thing.

bullshite.
I've rented cars a few times and all they want is a credit card with a balance greater than the total rental amount plus $250-500 depending on who it is.
Now if you are trying to rent a car with a debit card, that may be a different story. For people with only debit cards, go to Alamo.
Also, if you have a Costco membership and do not rent cars through them you are failing. No one beats their rates.

Went to visit a friend last year out in bfe Kentucky. He wasn't able to drive me back to an airport so we stopped at the enterprise in the town and I rented a car no problem and dropped it at the Columbia airport the next morning.

You left that out of the OP. Debit card does not give the rental companies enough incase you screw them. Who has great credit and makes six figures and doesn't have at least $1k in credit?

well clearly she needed it in this situation.

They want a line of credit so when your friend steals/wrecks/etc said car they can actually get something back on it (what insurance doesn't cover I assume). Just because your friend has a debit card with X company on it doesn't mean much since it's not a line of credit, it just shows that X company handles that bank's transaction services.

I can't believe you have a place of your own or friends. All of your topics make you sound like a barely functioning man child.

Apparently she does if she wants to rent a car through Enterprise.
Also...you said in your original post that she has great credit. Now you say she has none.
Which is it?

They said the airport would do it, maybe that was just to satiate the situation...and yes, I'm just going to pay for it...I need credit
