So over the weekend I was playing some flag football and I cut and my knee buckled. When to Dr. and got an MRI, says I tore my Meniscus, sprained ACL and LCL.I have it in a brace, and am using a crutch, but it doesnt really hurt, just feels weird. Anyboday ever done this and what kind of time-table can I expect before I can run and workout again.

UPDATE: So the doctor told me that I will most likely not need surgery, he gave me a brace and Im walking around on a crutch. No pain, just hard to lift my leg (feels like its heavy). Doctor told me to come back in 3 weeks and to see if its healing or if I need a cortizone shot or possibly a scope.

Isn't this something you should have asked your Dr?

I had mine scoped in high school. It was over a month recovery. Look up some PT work outs to help your knee get back in shape.

May want to let the ligaments heal before surgery but I've had the surgery before and my recovery time was about 4 weeks give or take a few days. And that was a full recovery BTW, I could do a little more before that.

Good luck and God speed on your recovery.

Depends on whether they cut it out or try to repair it. If they cut it out, they get you back on the knee as soon as you can stand it. Repair generally means crutches for awhile. You will be ok in a couple of months but a year before the knee feels "right".

had a buddy do this over the weekend in Vail, Co.

We were snowboarding down Sun up bowl. he had a soft fall right in front of me and and I went around him thinking it was just a standard fall.

I get to bottom of lift and wait for him and he does not show. He is a good rider too.

I go up lift and see him on the slope still.

ski patrol took him down.

that is my only experience in meniscus tears...

right, you tore it when you burned yourself on some microwave nachos while watching the superbowl on the couch.

I'm 54 and had a Rt Knee Replacement November 9th.It was a good decision.

I remember my first meniscus tear.It was in 82' and the timetable after getting your knee scoped has changed a lot.

I hope it's your last knee injury.Best of luck.

Never skip leg day, even if your knee is falling out your leg.
