but pre-TOPS Louisiana had scholarships

Yeah but not ones as easy to obtain as TOPS. You have to be a complete idiot not to qualify for TOPS.

I did get scholarships as well though. And Pell Grants cause I was poor(which are awesome cause you don't pay those back).

And how would you have felt if they pulled those scholarships you fairly earned and sent you a bill in the middle of your sophomore year? Would you think that is fair?

JBE throwing a temper tantrum because the legislature is not wanting to play ball with his tax increases. Where do I sign the recall petition?

Sorry I already work 35 hours a week while full time to afford living expenses.

You aren't seeing the forest from the trees, man. What this means is that thousands of students like me will have to take out loans with astronomical interest rates to get a degree after being lured to stay with the promise of free to little tuition.

What it does mean is that as soon as I do get my degree, i'm going to bolt for greener pastures like everyone else due to the ineptitude of the politicians in this state.

Sure, lets cut the program altogether instead of raising the requirements to get it. If I knew TOPS would be shelved do you think I'd have stayed in state? Hell no.

Should have went somewhere else than LSU. I am sure a lot of us think this way. I wouldn't send my kids here, if I had any.

Thank God I moved away from that lost state. I love Louisiana, but get your fricking shite together.

I love Louisiana the culture, people, etc.. but I hate how it's ran. The politics and finances are just awful here.

However, cutting it and not grandfathering it out for the current students is straight up thievery and bullshite. Absolutely criminal

like cutting welfare or upping the age of SS

kids still have options, a mother of 4 or a tradesman at 65 might not(too old for his craft)

I mean honestly....shouldn't yall have seen the writing on the wall?

I mean, Louisiana has been struggling with budget stuff regarding healthcare and education for how long now? After hearing about cut after cut after cut to the education budget, wouldn't anyone have wondered "Gee, wonder how much longer they can afford TOPS?"

It really won't have an effect until Fall 2016. It's just temporary. This could all be resolved before then
