I'm excited...the absolute latest period they could be are late 80s/early 90s

she is a lifelong hoarder of stuff, and spent years selling knockoff jewelry and trinkets

I'm telling you, this woman has some great stories, though she can no longer tell them.

That's actually a good deal for both parties on the balls.

Now the card I posted. I'd be making out like a bandit buying for $100k

Well that's mostly junk stuff... the $$$ is 1950's and earlier. The $$$$$$$$$$ stuff is pre-WWII.

Like I said... if there's a Baltimore Sun Ruth in that group I'll give him double your $100K offer.

gotta get back to work but I would imagine the cards are from some time between the 50s and late 80s...shite, she's 80 something, I guess she could have a ruth card, but again...if those cards were of the ruth/LG/Ty Cobb variety, there is absolutely no way they'd be headed to me

You're right... that card isn't really worth shite but we could both chip in $50K and see if we might make some sort of profit out of the deal.

If you pay over 5k for the balls, you fail at the internet

again I don't know...and finding out will be part of the fun

mantle and co. autographed the balls for her, but who knows what era the cards are from...I haven't really been given any info other than the balls...we called my FIL, but I was running an errand when he called back.

I'll definitely update with some picks, my wife is going to jersey for labor day.

Even commons from the 50's can go for $5, $10, $15, $20 depending on condition... you multiply that by a couple thousand and it's still decent money.

If someone offered me a legit 1914 Baltimore Sun Ruth for $200K you better believe I'd find that money... I could have that card sold for twice what I paid within 24 hours.

I have no idea, I'm sure my wife isn't 100% on the deets other than they're baseballs, they're signed, and authenticated...this woman was a lesbian cosmo Kramer, so who freaking knows if she had them write some statement...I have no clue...only details I do know

3 baseballs
who signed them
they're "authenticated"
she worked for the Yankees as a photographer
there are a shite load of old cards (god knows what era)

I'll know more when I speak to my FIL or when my wife comes back from jersey...and I will update.

I just cannot imagine someone giving up ownership of baseball cards that old, then again my FIL and his brother did spend a lot of time clearing out her old apartment so maybe they really didn't want to be bothered with it

whatever it ends up being, I know I'll find it interesting...this lady was interesting...I have to ask him if there are any photos she took or of her with players...so I can make like a cool setup to show her (via picture though)

could I ask the Yankees?

There are reputable companies that will authenticate signatures... JSA and PSA/DNA are two of the bigger names. Someone will authenticate the signature, sometimes they assign it a grade, they provide paperwork with a serial number, and put a hologram sticker on the ball with a matching serial number to the paperwork.

I'll post pics of the balls, I don't know if my wife is bringing those back or if her father is bringing them when he comes, I do know the cards are coming back with her after labor day...

this must be what it feels like at those storage auctions, only I have a general idea of what it is

She was the photographer right? Was she an actual professional or just amateur? If she was a professional then you should be able to find some of her pictures by searching her name in Google I'd imagine.

Where are all of her originals?

she could've sold them, as she sold so many things; they could still be buried under a pile of junk or her nephews (my FIL and her brother) would have them.

I suppose professional, they paid her, but she worked for them a long, long time ago.
