There is a big difference between cities I think are awesome and want to visit v live in.

This is sort of a conventional wisdom type point that I've never necessarily agreed with.

Outside of purely resort type areas, any place I really like or want to visit, is a place I could conceive of wanting to live, for at least a period of time.

exactly!!

nashville has great jobs, a booming economy, beautiful downtown, little traffic woes, great music, no state income tax, typically gets ALL FOUR SEAONS and ITS IN THE frickING SOUTH so people are really nice.

contrast that with living on that frozen gnat infested landmass above north dakota.

When I mean live, I mean live for a substantial time. Living someplace for a year is visiting IMO.

Take Istanbul, it's an awesome place but I'd never live there.

right..let's consider nasvhille.

crime (is there any here? maybe a murder once or twice a month)
taxes (no state income tax! property tax is roughly $3000 yearly for a $300k house)
healthcare (hello! vanderbilt is here)
jobs (our economy is booming)
education (willamson county schools here also lipscomb, belmont and vanderbilt in town)
climate (all 4 seasons bitch! it was 78 degrees for the high here last week)
people (southern. nuff said)
entertainment (our downtown is fricking booming, and on any given night a famous singer can be found showing up for an ad lib performance at a bar)
geography (good parks/outdoor nearby? we have gatlinburg, waterfalls and land between the lakes)

tell me how canada's fricked up frozen tundra and socalized medicine can compete with a great fricking city like nashville.

ETA TAKE OFF YOUR MAPLE SYRUP AND GNAT ENCRUSTED BLINDERS canada-lovers.

7 out of 10 not being in USA is accurate. Its a legit list

Yeah....those cities are commonly highly regarded in these kinds of ratings. Pull your head out of your corner of the world.

I love stats.

Go Google crime in Nashville. It's virtually nonexistent.
