is the young lady's death what separates this from past instances or the fact that it was an alt-right rally where it occurred and not a BLM or Antifa rally?

Do you think it would have gathered near the attention if it was a left-wing nutjob who plowed through the right's protestors?

Ok, well, once the boomers die out we'll go tear down the racist Vietnam Memorial.

My mother attended a fricking Vigil for it.

It is tragic and I cannot fathom how her family feels, and she might have just been attempting to cross the road when it happened. The full video of the incident though shows the driver coming to a stop before someone swings something at his car, he then tries to go forward to escape as he is being converged on, so he reversed out of trouble. I don't agree with the apparent reason why he was there, but I cannot say without a doubt that if a group of people were attacking my vehicle and had me surrounded that gtfo there would not be my first and only thought.

I should ask if she's attending one today for what happening in Spain.

While both are tragedies I cannot in good faith equate the two instances when one group was enjoying life, while the other was an instigator.

Just pointing out the common refrain "nobody alive had anything to do with slavery, so why should I have to pay?". By the same token, the people alive now didn't know the rebel dead. So why should their public spaces be occupied for people that didn't know?

This is the narrative I have a problem with. The full video unedited doesn't show plowing, but rather accelerating an attempt to escape from people that once they begin to attack your vehicle and surround you, you can only assume intend you harm.

Ok, so then you're down with tearing down memorials to people who's generation is no longer alive. Not a whole lot of WWII vets around so you should start getting estimates for bulldozers and fuel.

Wow, If Tony Dungy would have taken as much interest in raising his kid as he did in removing statues, his son might still be alive.

Don't get me wrong, the removal of these things is a waste of time, and will have no effect of the crime that runs rampant in black communities.

BUT...instead of hiding the statue, it will at least be seen somewhere. They aren't trashing the piece. Riots aren't taking place.

FWIW - this board is hard to please. I commented the other day how what happened in Charlottesville was inevitable. Left pushed and pushed, and extreme right finally had someone lose his shite. I was downvoted away for saying that was a predictable outcome. Lol

We all have faults. I don't think his kid's suicide and this incident go hand in hand...

Holy shite, there are a ton of these Confederate statues.

I mean seriously???

Southern Poverty Law Center says there are approximately 1500 or so of these Confederate memorials. About 700 monuments & the rest Schools, building , street names, etc.....

1 in 12 of them are actually in Union States including Maine ,Arizona & Montana.

700 monuments . These old Neo Confederate housewives had far too much time on their hands.

Let's just get the opinions and objectives of every black man/woman of importance so we can move the agenda along faster. I'm not up to seeing this shite the rest of this year.

Absolutely, and inability to see it for what it was and attempt to find common ground is only going to make it worse. Reading accounts from "journalists" following either side and you would think it was actual warfare occurring with the dialogue. The LA Times actually did a good piece on this LINK where you can see how out of it these guys are. These are not rational people. Both sides thought this was some war where the were attempting to outflank and outmaneuver their "enemy". The reporting on this is not going to help matters any, by all accounts both sides were violent and that's not how it has been portrayed. I don't think either extreme is done pushing or done growing, and due to the perception of the "terror attack" I don't look forward to the head. When Antifa/BLM members (not the entire group but definitely members) fought "fire with fire" for what they perceived to be wrongful deaths by cops, they killed cops. I fully expect the next clash between the groups to prove deadly again, not en masse, but a far leaner one way or the other will snap.

I just think there are a lot of people on this board that choose to see life as it's portrayed to them by someone of a similar perception. In some way we all do, one's perception is one's own reality, even if it's not reality.

Why are you ALWAYS in these threads? All you do is piss everyone off get your jollies off from it. You've already made it clear to everyone that you don't give a frick about any fallen soldiers/warriors unless they're of the US and that you believe the Confederates were treasonous. You've also made it clear that you're not willing to change your opinion or have a reasonable discussion so why post here besides trying to get a rise out of people?
