Mitch will be long gone before Dixie even makes it back to the city.

He could bring back McKenzie's too!!!
McKenzie's has been back, in a way. Tastee Restaurants bought most of the McKenzie's recipes and the rights to their branding. So you can get buttermilk drops, blackout cakes, jelly rolls, turtles, king cakes, and other stuff.

They're only at the locations branded as Tastee Restaurants, though, which is apparently a different ownership group from Tastee Donuts. I know the locations on Clearview and on Harrison are affiliated, at least.

I applaud him for this but let's not forget that SOB tried to steal our Saints in the aftermath of the storm. I will never forgive him for that.
Reckon that threat was to get a better deal from the State???

quote: my father told me horror stories from the 70s of having to drink Dixie Beer because it was the only beer at the party hell, that was the good stuff, we used to buy Texas Pride($1.39/six pack,) to stretch our dollars Dixie wasn't that bad

Man y'all were high class!

Schwegmann's and K&B beer!

The majors invaded New Orleans in the 60s and 70s. The price points of the likes of Anheuser Busch killed all the locals except Dixie. Cutting back on quality in the 70s to match costs almost buried Dixie. They came out of chapter 11 and became a nice niche regional beer along the coast to Florida. Regular Dixie was a great cold beer for Gulf Coast heat. There is huge potential for Dixie in the new craft beer times locally, regionally, and nationally. They must recapture it's uniqueness however.

It is definitely not for everyone. But it is a good beer.

As a brewery that existed before Prohibition, Dixie is able to sell direct from the brewery and isn't required to follow the 3-tier distribution model required by the repeal of Prohibition.

I have an older friend who talks fondly of stopping at the Tulane Avenue brewery on his way home from work to grab a keg for the weekend in the 70s. Curious if they'll bring back the stars and bars flag on the can from the original logo.
