To tip or not to tip

Do you tip in these situations? Some will be obvious.

If so, how much?

1. Your server at a restaurant

2. The bartender who pours you a beer or glass of wine.

3. The bartender who whips you up a cocktail

4. The barista who pours you a cup of black coffee.

5. The barista who makes you a latte or something similar.

6. Your barber/hair stylist

7. The Jimmy Johns guy who bikes over your order.

8. The person at the register who rings up your to-go order

9. The pizza delivery guy

10. The Taxi/Lyft driver

11. The valet

12. The casino (gaming) dealer

2. The bartender who pours you a beer or glass of wine. - $1 in the tip jar

3. The bartender who whips you up a cocktail - $1 in the tip jar

4. The barista who pours you a cup of black coffee. - make coffee at home

5. The barista who makes you a latte or something similar. see #4

6. Your barber/hair stylist - $5

7. The Jimmy Johns guy who bikes over your order. - $0

8. The person at the register who rings up your to-go order - $0

9. The pizza delivery guy - $5

10. The Taxi/Lyft driver - $0 the fare is paid for

11. The valet - piece of chewing gum

12. The casino (gaming) dealer - Depends on the pot I just won. Usually $1 - $5

I agree with 4-5& 8, the reason being they are paid hourly above min wage, where servers make $2.50 and hour or so.

3. The bartender who whips you up a cocktail: 10% if a running tab or $1 for a single

4. The barista who pours you a cup of black coffee: loose change at most

5. The barista who makes you a latte or something similar: a buck

6. Your barber/hair stylist: $5

7. The Jimmy Johns guy who bikes over your order: ours drive cars but I never have it delivered

8. The person at the register who rings up your to-go order: Nope

9. The pizza delivery guy: around $4-$5

10. The Taxi/Lyft driver: $3 to $5

11. The valet: I hate using a valet, but $3 to $5

12. The casino (gaming) dealer: Only if I win big

Yes to all, but with varying degrees.

For To-go or people performing a 5 second single task, I typically let them keep the change or add $1.

For delivery, actual servers, casino dealers, barbers, etc... I'll legitimately tip according to normal standards.

If you tip a bartender for tacking off a bottle cap our pouring a beer, then why wouldn't you tip a barista?
