To-Do Lists: Waste of Time or Good for Planning & Organizing Thoughts?

I notice that most women seem to be obsessed with making to-do lists, especially those in college.
I'm all for making use of a calendar or a big planner to know when major events/apointments are coming up, but the tediousness of some of these daily & weekly organizers is just absurd.
When I stop and think about how much time is wasted just to compile these lists I can't help but shake my head.

I make to do lists all the time. Helps keep me on track.
It may take me a total of two minutes to write everything I need to get done down, so I don't really see how that's a waste of time.

Very useful. I use them a lot. Making lists makes me have to actually have my shite together.

I make a to do list every morning.

I used to try to work off of a to do list, but planning my day out in advance most of the time stressed me out because other issues would come up at work and keep pushing things back. I now just try and prioritize matters by importance and get things done in that order.

get married then be prepared for honey do lists...they are the bane of my existence

I make them when I have more than 3 things to do in a day. Problem is that I forget what is supposed to go on them in the process of getting the pen and paper and writing

This won't go the way you want it to. List makers rule the world, pretty much. I don't like making lists, either, but on critical days, you bet I have a list handy.

But yet you wasted the time to make this stupid arse thread.

I use wunderlist in my law practice. I don't want to calendar every call I need to return.

I'm really forgetful. If I don't right it down, it'll never get done. Now some of those girls you see in college with those elaborate planners are probably just cracked out on adderall.

For work I do, not so much when I'm not at work. Very rarely outside of work.

I used elaborate planners when in college. Helped keep me organized with all my schoolwork.
I don't use planners now because many smartphone apps offer better alternatives than hand writing in a planner.

Gay + early stages of Alzheimer's = a To-Do list.

Very helpful for me. If it's not on my list, it may not get done. My memory is Swiss cheese these days.

A to-do list worked for Vince Marinello.

I just keep track of it in my head because I'm a fricking genius

No input on what women might do with their lists, but I make them and use them all the time. Guess what, I get more done in a timely manner.

Always make to-do lists. It's helped me tremendously in my work and personal life. The trick to maximizing lists is to create them at the end of the day. That way your mind has subconsciously worked on them by the next day.
