I have a ‘21 Ram 1500 Bighorn and it’s getting time to start thinking tires. It came with BF Goodrich tires. I have just shy of 59,000 miles on them. I’ve had good experience with Michelin Defenders on my last truck and my wife’s car so my initial thought is that’s the way I’ll go. But I’m open to suggestions. Anyone have recommendations?

For your trouble…

Go with your initial thought.

I have Michelin Defenders on both of our vehicles. Fantastic tire. Handles ponding on the road very well and pretty quiet.

I don't see a "spare" pic.

Get that woman a fuzzy blanket, as sitting on straw in the buff can cause great discomfort.

I usually go Defenders but I just ordered Continental Terrain Contact A/T. Want to give them a try.

I have Michelin Primacy tires that I bought at Costco on my F150. They are great riding tires. They aren't very aggressive tread or anything though, basically city tires.

I've had good luck with Cooper tires. One of the few American owned tire companies left.

That’s been my experience with the Defender as well. And they last longer than any other tire I’ve tried over the years. That’s why I’m leaning that way. Just wanted to see if anyone has had a better experience with another tire.

I usually stay on paved surfaces, though on occasion I have to visit quarries and mines. But when I do I only have to go to the office. If I go down in the quarry or mine I ride in the field rep’s truck.

Michelin is best for lifespan and quality control.

There are usually softer riding tires out there however, you just pay for it because they don’t last as long.

I have Cooper Discoverer AT3 on my Ram. It’s the 3rd set of Coopers I’ve put on our vehicles. I’ve never had issues with them. They’re all terrains but ride pretty quiet on the road. They aren’t expensive compared to other big name tires.

How many miles do you average getting from them?

When you buy all 4 new tires, is the alignment usually included or is that extra?

One of my friends owns her own tire shop (inherited it from her dad) here in town so I get a good buddy deal on tires. But I do believe, if alignment is needed, they’ll do it.
