The fiancee and myself are heading to San Antonio for our honeymoon. (Neither of us are beach people and we heard San Antonio was awesome.) Anyone who has been before, tips on places to check out while there would be appreciated. We are staying at the Hotel Contessa for location reference and will be there the week after Christmas. TIA.

Week after Chistmas? Kind of rolling the dice on the weather here. Might be really nice or really cold.

Contessa is nice. There's a great zoo if the weathers good. Alamo, Riverwalk, margaritas and Mexican food. Get a couples massage. Not sure if Le Mansion still does their famous sunday brunch.

Yeah cold is OK with us as long as it's not ice covered roads and such.

Yes, do a day trip to Greune and have a beer in the Hall and eat at the Grist Mill. Check the music schedule and go on a day there is pickin and grinning going on

If staying along the Riverwalk, which part is the best? Is one area where most of the activity is? Riverwalk hotel recommendations?

The roads iced one night 5 years ago and that's probably the only time it's happened in the past 15 years.

Lived in S.A. from 2006-2015. Stay away from River walk, its just for tourists. Hotel choice would be the Eleon near the La cantera, its not even close on choices and quality. Dinner is superb along with wines.

Well, I AM a tourist. However, that hotel looks amazing, and I'm all in it for the wine...thanks!
