But seriously, when you're in doubt, ask those guys with 30+ years experience what they would do. They will appreciate that you came to them to seek out their knowledge and personal experience.

Also, be visible....even if it's just shooting the breeze with them. That way, they don't associate your presence as "something must be wrong"....the boss is here.
