Why do they paint solid white lines and zones between the two lanes?

That’s for cars.

Large 18 wheelers have a large turn radius. If the trucks are in the inside lane, they have the raised interior concrete island to overtrack on. If they are in the outside lane, they’re going to overtrack a little bit on the inside.

It doesn’t make sense to design two full lanes for 18 wheelers. The circles would be comically large.

Is there a way to see how this $29M breaks out?

Right, that's why it will be fun to watch semis traverse these. Probably 1/3 of traffic getting off on those exits are larger trucks.

They will be fine for the 18 wheelers and work a whole lot better that all those closely spaced traffic signals.

Whoa, whoa whoa. You seem to know what you're talking about, you're not biatching and are rational. Shouldn't you be reading a book or watching c-span.

I'm amazed how they say it'll reduce traffic problems and reduce the speed of vehicles causing less wrecks. The problem is it also slows traffic down so much that you have problems entering the road bc the slowed down traffic made it harder to find a spot to sneak in.

Are these roundabouts wide enough for 18-wheelers to easily navigate them?

If it’s anything like the shite they built in Covington it will be originally designed to fit 18-wheelers correctly then DOTD will say the projects too expensive so they’ll half arse it and make it a mess.

First of all, If the fine people of Walker can figure it out, half assed anyways, then ascension bumkins can too.

It may slow things down but it will also increase volume moving in and out of those intersections. That was the long way of saying it will be more efficient.

Making it 4 lanes from geismar all the way into lsu would be nice

Why would be nicer is if they would decide to not cram every square inch of real estate available on Hwy 30 with fast food restaurants, strip malls, mattress stores, pharmacies, shopping malls, tire stores, industrial service providers, daiquiri shops, hotels,….. well, you get the idea.

I watched 2 roundabouts happen in a month time frame in Fort Lauderdale. There wasn’t a stop sign before, it was just a straight road. I guess my taxes go to something, I dunno.

This should be fun to watch all the semi-trucks navigate.

True that. The whole area is fricked. Plant crew change and weekend traffic suck. Ascension traffic sucks for that matter. Can't wait to see it in my rear view mirror.
