DOTD told WBRZ that the project will add roundabouts at the intersections of LA 30 and I-10 westbound, LA 30 at I-10 eastbound and LA 30 at St. Landry. Existing traffic signals will be removed at these intersections.

DOTD cited statistics showing roundabouts reduce fatalities by up to 90 percent and reduce injury crashes up to 76 percent.

Only $10M per roundabout. Not bad!

This should be fun to watch all the semi-trucks navigate.

Are these roundabouts wide enough for 18-wheelers to easily navigate them? There’s a f$&k ton of truck traffic right there due to the plants.

They will be fine for the 18 wheelers and work a whole lot better that all those closely spaced traffic signals.

This is in Hammond and hundreds of trucks a day have no problem with these roundabouts. The soccer moms and crackheads however.

Need to make LA30 controlled access "interstate" from south of LSU's campus to I-10 in Gonzales instead of spending money on this.

Then make LA1 controlled access from the new controlled access 415 connector to the new Mississippi River bridge in Plaquemine and you have your southern loop of Baton Rouge from I-10/415-Lobdell to I-10/LA30-Gonzales and a spur into Baton Rouge.

Jesus Christ, my head hurts just thinking about Ascension’s finest trying to navigate that many roundabouts that close together at almost any time of the day in that location.

This is such a dumb comment that is repeated way too often by idiots.

I’m assuming this work will take place at the same time as I-10 in Baton Rouge going to 1 lane and LA-30 from LSU to St. Gabriel gets expanded to 4 lanes.

It needs to be done, but they better get moving on it before all the other work really gets going. I wouldn't count on it though.

It would be a good idea to just avoid the entire BR metro area for a long time.

I got to experience this clusterfrick a couple of weeks ago. 18 wheelers back up on to I12 and basically take it down to one lane. This was also on a Saturday, and Sunday morning when there shouldn’t have been much traffic.

I can’t even imagine how bad this would frick up traffic on I10 at 30!!!

That roundabout at St. Landry would be a clusterfrick… cars leaving Tanger Blvd would have to go down to St. Landry and turn around to get on the interstate.

Hopefully they learned some lessons about grading and lighting from the ones at I-12 in Walker.

Not sure what was going on when you went through, but the Hammond roundabouts have improved that traffic situation immensely.

Have you seen how the semis handle the roundabout in front of Pelican Point and 22/70? They just drive across all the lanes

Why the hell does it cost $10,000,000 per roundabout?

The roundabout on 22 and 70 is awesome.
