Thoughts on a Toyota Highlander?

I'm in the market for a reasonably priced SUV that can carry two kids, a dog, and some luggage. We also have a small pop-up trailer (2,000 lbs) to pull for long road trips (very rare).

I've got a 2009 Toyota Highlander with 50k miles in sight for $19k. 2WD, V6, 248 torque at 4700 rpm.

Thoughts?

My Mom drives one... it's over 200K miles now, she seems to like it.

My wife is on her 4th Highlander. She loves them. works great for trips. Can fit 4-5 people and load the back up with luggage/supplies. We also have the 3rd row seats which come in handy when you have more passengers.

So it's a chick car?

I mean, I really don't care actually. I just need something I can afford that has both space and towing capacity. I looked into 4Runners, but my wife is convinced they're top-heavy and flip easily.

I'm open to other suggestions.

How about you find some data to disprove that theory (or confirm it) first?

Very good car. And decent price for that.

Yea. Not sure about the KBB and what not but that's one thing that people who aren't familiar with Toyotas are shocked by. They hold value so well. But should be able to come off that price by 1500 or so i'm sure.

Absolutely. But it's a great vehicle, for a chick.

That's ridiculous and not true.

Be a man, get the 4Runner. Not her vehicle anyway.

We have a Highlander that my wife drives. She originally went looking for a 4Runner because her dad has one but changed her mind after getting behind the wheel of the Highlander. After we test drove both, the Highlander's interior felt more spacious. We have 2 kids (3 and 2 months) as well as a black lab. We've taken it to the inlaws in Houma a few times with both kids (and all their toys and other shite) and dog for a day trip and its been great.

Mine is a 2010 model, with 86k+ miles on it. I have had zero problems with it.

My wife and I are currently debating on the new 4runner vs Highlander (for her car). We have 1 kid (will probably have another soon), and a 85lb golden retriever.

She prefers the Highlander because she says its more spacious, has a nicer interior, and is lower to ground for easy access for kids and dog.

I prefer the 4runner because it looks cooler, and it's a real SUV (on a truck chasis).

Not sure I'm going to win this argument... especially since she'll be driving it to work everyday.
