I for one think it's a little ridiculous...

LSUPD put out a description they were given (probably by the victim) of an armed robbery suspect as a "black male in a dark hoodie" in an emergency texts.

So I guess they shouldn't give descriptions unless they only describe one person?

SIAP, I searched

I mean in theory I get what they're saying in some respects, but in this case that's probably all the police were told about the suspect and they'd have been skinned alive for not releasing it had someone been killed by the guy after the robbery

The fact is, 9.9/10 crimes committed in LSU's campus are done so by black males.

Yep, and it's not like they'd have been up in arms if it was a white guy and police described him as a "white male in a blue hoodie," hypocritical imo

This came directly from the ACLU website and was included in their definition of racial profiling:

quote:

Racial profiling does not refer to the act of a law enforcement agent pursuing a suspect in which the specific description of the suspect includes race or ethnicity in combination with other identifying factors.

I guess the protesting students could not take thirty seconds to see if what they were protesting was warranted or not.

Well guess what, if the only description that officers have on a suspect is a black, white, Asian, or Mexican wearing a hooded sweat shirt, then that's all they have to put out.

Get a life and get off your high and mighty bull crap.

The suspect was black and was wearing a hoodie. Get over it

I guess the victim could have said, "some guy", but then again it would have left all of humanity in the vicinity "in danger" of being profiled, instead of one race.

I think it was very convenient for all those suspects to gather in a single location.

An alternative solution is to not include physical descriptions of suspects unless there is a distinctive characteristic, Brown said.

Let's see. He is male. He is black. He is wearing a hoodie. Seem like distinctive characteristics to me.

He is male

How do you know if he self-identified as a female? Pretty presumptuous of you there.
