Thoughts about systemic racism

Over many years, I've heard many african-americans blame systemic racism on many of the obstacles that they face in life. I've always been told by my father to walk a mile in someone's shoes before you judge them. Being a white male, that is impossible, but I have thought long and hard and have tried to sympathize with many of the BLM supporters regarding inequality. Let me be clear that this post has nothing to do with police brutality or any similar sect of the movement. I'm talking about those who claim they are cheated in life and not given the same opportunities due to race. How can someone truly believe that? Where does race come into play when a young black man grows up without a father? Where does race come into play when a kid chooses to drop out of school? Where does race come into play when a kid reaches for a handgun instead of a resume?
What we are seeing in America today in the lower income black comminities is a perpetuated system of habitually bad decisions and complacency. When a young black man is surround by conditions and circumstances prevalent in a "ghetto", he will sustain these values amd pass them on to his children and then their children. What our country needs is someone who will promote education. We need vision for young black men who are blinded by there own surroundings. I've been to outreaches in communities that don't have some of the most redeeming qualities, but at the same time show so much potential. It is on us to be that change. Start with your community. Spread knowledge of what it takes to be successful in a world that seems doomed by those who can't see beyond their circumstances.

Blacks need to stop blaming other people for their own problems

so we need to tell the youth in the ghetto to just stop making bad decisions and being so complacent.

Systemic or systematic?

You don't tell them. You work with them.

I am pretty sure you are trying for SYSTEMIC racism here.
Systematic, while also an adjective, refers more to doing something in a specific way or by plan. He systematically searched the building for the missing item.
Systemic means pertaining to an entire system. Racism is a systemic problem in that city.

Racism is created through dialog on race. So every time you hear someone say that we need an open dialog on race issues, they are the ones that are perpetuating racism.

I posed this question in the poli board the other day.The real question is why are foreigners from so called "ghettos" aka poor areas not as violent and/or likely to end up in prison? Plenty of poor people on earth are hard working, honest, and just looking to move up in life even the africans who come over from africa are very hard working polite people. The poor inner city residents you are referring to are a different breed of human being altogether. I dont know any honest, hard working people who want to kill cops or blame others for their downfalls.
You cant judge people till you've walked a mile in their shoes but plenty of other races have emerged from poverty and strife to achieve success. The african americans you reference prefer to live off the government and blame others for their shortcomings.

Personally, we have black guys come in to our office every now and again looking for a job. 95% of the time they look like shite, are dressed like shite, and their bass shakes the door when they drive up. They come in, never introduce themselves, never shake hands, and ask "y'all hirin'?"
Even if we were hiring, what do you think our answer is going to be? We don't need warm bodies. We need smart, proactive people that make everyone else's job easier. Not someone that just needs to collect a pay check.

Is it that those who cry racism are in fact racist themselves?
Posted on 7/20/16 at 2:13 pm to BobLeeDagger
It's used as a crutch and excuse.
The "system" is what it is. You can either join or get left behind. Many in that community get left behind due to their own choosing.
They're creating their own system of oppression that is keeping the one's trying to escape in, and the left is perpetuating it.

This is really what it all boils down to. As a species we need to be nurtured from day 1 to not be a piece of shite no matter the race. The difference is young black people are being told they are in these situations due to someone else holding them there. Then the lower income individuals are often surrounded by violence and no regard for life. The children brought up in that environment start to see that as the norm and the cycle continues. I don't have the answers. It's a problem that's been spiraling out of control for decades and it seems to be getting worse now. Then throw in that everyone can fuel the fire on social media and it's a recipe for disaster. I just don't know anymore........

"Systemic racism" is an ace in the hole for liberals.
It's such a loose definition nowadays. There are no racist laws they can point to so they can declare, legally mind you, that if a law has a disproportionate effect on people of color that it's racist. If you whittle down their arguments over a period of time you will eventually get the answer of "well, I just FEEL that x in racist/sexist, etc". Their entire ethos is rooted in emotion.
They essentially can't lose and it benefits them greatly. They have no desire for equal playing fields and rely on and propagate racial strife in order to gain politically and financially. Just like Jesse and Al, the last thing liberals want is equality or peace as it puts them out of a job. They have an extremely vested interest in making sure that there is ALWAYS inequality of some sort. We've already begun to see these "victim" groups begin to battle each other over who is more "oppressed". It's only a matter of time before they go to all out war with each other and it's going to be hilarious.

Laziness and stupidity are not racial issues, they're humanity issues. You have to have drive or you'll never better your situation. Institutionalized racism is just another obstacle in the way to a better life for basically all nonwhite people. Just because you're white doesn't mean you don't also have obstacles, but in the context of comparison between your "white obstacle" and a "nonwhite obstacle", it comes off as you belittling something you don't encounter and therefore can't fully understand. I see how that offends nonwhite people. I don't know why it's assumed that because I'm white I don't have encounters with obstacles in my life that nonwhite people don't, and how they can turn around and belittle my achievements because I was born in the US with "white male privilege". That's just where I'm at on this at the moment. I don't know enough of the socio-economic side of systemic or institutionalized racism to add an explanation in that regard, but I know if you don't put in the work, then no matter your situation, you won't be successful in whatever you do.

Need a black man to rise up and show skin color won't prevent you from success. Now what would be a high level position that could be used to show that......
