Black community...I am a white man and I can't say I can truly associate with your pain and what you endure each day. I really don't know.

You seem to be a people who are looking for a hero...someone to point to to help further your cause. Everyone needs heroes.

Alton Sterling should NOT be the face of your cause. He is NOT a martyr. Nothing he did in his life should be what your people aspire to and look up to.

Here is the man your people should rally around. He is a man who did things the right way, who served his community as best he could, and died tragically and needlessly in doing so. THIS should be a role model for your community.

The internet raised over $700k for Alton Sterling's children. What can we do for the officers that were killed today?

There are multiple gofundme's out there. They'll get up there.

As for me. I'll gladly rally behind this man.

There are "gofundme" accounts out there...but the media has advised that people wait for just a little while to make sure those are legit and not just people scamming you.

Matthew Gerald

Brad Garafola

Just figured put all 4 faces to the names of those officers that died today. This seems the best thread for it, not to take away from the OP. Hopefully something is done for all the families who are hurting.

Edit: Removed Nick since WAFB recounted the earlier story it had confirmed he passed.

That's gonna make me cry, bro. So sad. That poor baby will grow up without his father. Why? For what? Needlessness.

i am very eagerly awaiting what black leaders will say about the killing of a black officer, which happened in retaliation to the killing of a black man by white officers...

wonder if they will be as incensed over the killing of a black officer by a black man, vs if this would have happened at the hands of a deranged white man....

it just goes to the point of why does black lives matter ONLY when it's a white vs. black issue? why are there no protest in lieu of black on black crime?

and THAT is why they aren't taken seriously... i am tired of the agendas... it's time to start treating each other like we'd like to be treated... it's time to take a good long look in the mirror, by EVERY side involved and ask tough question of OURSELVES... it's time to do better, for ourselves, for our families, for our communities, for our world....

Unfortunately, too much of the black community will refuse to relate to a police officer, black or not

Excellent post lsu grad.
Problem is this officer was killed by another black man. This senseless act occurs many time daily in our country and gets zero attention.
This week you will not see Al Sharton and the Rev in Baton Rouge for this black life, you will not see BLM protesters either, why? Well because he was not killed by a white man. These idiots along with BLM do nothing more than fuel hatred among us and increase the racial divide.
Damn shame what our country allows and doesn't allow.
I can't believe today it was stated the all lives matter is inflammatory and derogatory. WTF is going on?????
