Have you used Uber so you can compare the two? I've never taken a Yellow Cab in BR so I can't compare.

Used uber the same night for the second time. I love uber and will always be the first thing I use when I need a ride but I was just going a short distance so that's why I used yellow cab

Were they both accommodating of your bike?

I don't believe that you actually believe that.

I took an ÜberX this morning and said I hoped Über puts the cabbies out of business. Guy was a cabbie trying to make a few extra bucks and disagreed to say the least.

We talked it out and we actually ended up agreeing. Gave him a 5*

So he couldn't make ends meet as a cabbie and still thinks the system works?

On what points? Or did you just compromise?

That Cabs need less regulations on them and that the cab companies/unions should be arguing for this rather than against Über

Exactly, team up with uber rather than fight them.

Or change their business model, which would probably kill yellow cab corporate profit margin.

I'm not trying to stir shite or bring back old arguments, because I honestly don't know the answer to my next question...did regulations hamper taxi companies from upgrading their technology to compete with what Uber has going?

Just planting seeds.... Hopefully it will be nurtured and bloom into a beautiful Über flower

No, a monopoly deemed it unnecessary.

No money is exchanged, built it to price.

Yes and no.... They have to pay outrageous fees for certificates/coins depending on the city. The swipe fee is a big deal to most small businesses and I have no problem with them fighting on that principle. I don't think cabs are required here still to have a CC machine (Not in BR).

The cab company's want those regulations to keep out competition and to control the market themselves

They're a cartel

Getting back to the original post, you'd think yellow cab would be rolling out promotions and incentives to counter the Uber attack
