I love SLC myself. Wish I lived there or Boise. I may be in the near future, hopefully. My only gripe with Utah is the low ABV draft beer law.

Bought a house ski in ski out last year- now I want to move there. Going two months out the year has me hooked- just have to convince the hubby... Convinced my kids would benefit greatly growing up slope side, but there's the money thing... Going buy a lotto ticket now!

i live in Aspen and i love it. Its great for skiing and also many summer activities.

other great ski towns are brek, keystone, telluride.

anywhere you pick will be better than where you are living now.

Just snowy, but not too bad. It melts fairly quickly on roads most of the time. It doesn't get into the negatives, or even near them. I think we dipped below 10 only once or twice last year. Mostly stays between 20-30, and since it's dry it really doesn't feel that bad.

I hate winter/snow/cloudiness and I don't mind it here.

I live in Golden. Have been here since '88. Like the small town feel, ability to walk to damn near everything I/we need, and abundance of activities in the hills/mountains/plains.

45 minutes to Loveland and Eldora. Used to never go thru the tunnel due to fricked up ski traffic. Now, the traffic is fricked up all year round. That may be the biggest downer. Oh, and get ready for the hipsters....craft lager brah......brah....

Anywho, plenty of places to live in Co where you can burrow in and live small town style...

Boulder County.
It's on the Front Range so the weather is sunny and mild. You can be in Denver in 30/40 minutes.
You are closer to the mountains and it's beyond pretty.
You ahave fast access to 36 and 1-25 for business travel.
You are close to the city of Boulder that has great stuff to do.
Try Lafayette, Louisville,Superior, Erie, Longmont etc.

This. I live in Boulder and love it here, but housing is expensive. You can get much better value for your money by moving to the aforementioned places. We go to Denver often and the drive isn't too bad as long as you avoid rush hour traffic.

Bring some John Denver music with you. That's all they listen to in Colorado.

Stayed in Longmont earlier this year. Beautiful. Way more pretty than Colorado Springs, though I would still live there.

Montrose is gorgeous, too. Has a cool hot springs outside the city that is clothing optional.

I want to live out there, but I'm not sure of the job market and I'm too young to retire.

Woodland Park is a good one

Colorado Springs is awesome for light traffic and things to do,

Denver is great for terrible traffic, and moving really slow on the interstate,

Pueblo is a butthole.

But for a nice quite town that the family would enjoy, Colorado Springs can't be beat. Drive up on Cheyenne Mountain at dusk and look out on the city. That is the view you want to see every night.

Lets us know what you decide. And if you are from Bama, there are a few parts of town that have trailer parks. So you have that going for you.

Durango is a gem

We live in Utah. My house is 20-35 minutes from 5 ski resorts.
Hiking everywhere.
Not as many drinking pals as I had in Louisiana, but mostly great people here.

My buddy lives in Boise. He freaking loves it there.

Good luck

This

Would be where I would move based on your answers to my questions. Only other spot I might add would be Evergreen.

Go for it. I love the State of Colorado minus the liberal leaning slide that is taking place.

One other note. There have been many good suggestions. There are many locations worth living in and you will find something beautiful in just about every direction on the front range and the West slope. If you have the time I would tour the state and spend some time in several locations. Write down what is most important for you and your family.

I travelled throughout every part of Colorado for my job and fell in love with several locations. Good luck and have fun. Make the move you will love it there.
