need some ideas on places to move that’s decent areas, but not overly pricey.

Off the top of my head how is College Station, San Antonio and Austin living??

anyone have any tips.

Also looking for a good sports town for my son. i want him to grow up with a good program around him.

My nephew and his family moved from Abbeville to Beaumont several years ago for a better work opportunity. He adapted quickly and just loves Beaumont. Nice size town with Lamar University for his kids to attend. Big time High School Football there also. Not all that far to make it back home for a visit.

You may want to look into this...

Whoops. Never mind.

You may want to consider Waco. They've got a great football head coach and a top 10 team in football and basketball.

Move to San Antonio, you won’t regret it.

Fort Worth > Waco if living near a sports university is that big of a deal. Waco is not really a good place to live. No redeeming qualities other than it’s not a big city.

Believe it or not but moving from Lake Charles to Beaumont is actually a downgrade. The whole Golden Triangle is crap.

Texas is a large state. There will be a lot of towns to consider.

My sons ran track. I was amazed at the athletic facilities in KISD.

If your son's sport is football, look at Katy HS. Amazing program. I would think you could find housing that's not overly pricey

I was in Beaumont today and there are some nice older parts with huge houses but overall the city is crap and actually has less to offer than LC does these days.

A decade or so ago that wasn't the case.

If op wants to live near Louisiana and still be in a “southern city” then Tyler would be a good choice I think. Or maybe somewhere outside of Houston if he wants to be near a huge city… I personally wouldn’t though

If looking around Houston

The Clear Lake area doesn't get enough love here on TD.com IMO

Sugar Land is a nice clean city and his son can catch "yellow fever" there when he gets old enough to date

We're considering moving in a few years away from LC to Texas.

We're thinking Houston solely for the $$$, but everything equal, we'd find somewhere in West Texas away from the rat race.

Thinking Abilene.

Magnolia, NW of Houston you can still get acreage and it’s still close enough to a big city

I’ve got to go to a wedding in Beaumont in a few months. Guess I’ll be staying at The Elegante… that should be a cultural experience.

Move to El Dorado and buy the YFZ Ranch that TX took from the FLDS church and start your own cult.

That requires talking to people. Not really my interest.
